Hello

Looking for anyone that can give any info on the ultra, gold ,or platinum series kennels from optionsplus in ohio.  I have heard alot of good about the company as well as there products however am looking for actual owners of any of the following series as I am looking at all three.  Please give any pros and cons about which ever series you own.  If you have had a bad experience please just pm me as My motive is not to cause any issues simple to just get opinions on the three and what some of the pros and cons may be of each.  Thank you for your time.

Jim

I own a couple of them. They are well built, and I have no complaints about them. Easy to put together too. I own the Ultra series kennel, the 10 x 10 x 6.   I use to have a couple of chain link kennels, and the Shepherds would rip the chain link apart to get out, so I bought mine from  options plus, and that doesn't happen anymore.

I have a set of four, two doubles with inside/outside runs. I bought the platinim about 4 years ago and have had no trouble.  I bought these because they are strong enough to hold a gorilla. Even though the gate has a double latch on the rod (mid and bottom catch) I have one bitch who figured that she could open it. Easily fixed with a bunji cord. They are powder coated and do require maintenance. I will do some reconditioning this summer by using a wire brush and a Permatex Rust Inhibitor coating. I liked the way that the openings in the wire panels were gradient from botton to top with the smallers (2x2) at the bottom, 2x4 in the middle, and 2x6 at the top. This keeps pups from being messed with by  a dog in the adjacent run. Nothing is bullet proof, everything has its shortcomings regardless of the manufacturer. Beyond that I used 4'x8'x 1/8" acrylic sheet to cover the inside walls making them easy to clean.

I installed them by myself with no help on concrete. I have the Kuranda beds for the females and they love them, and it keeps them off the concrete. I use carpet on the inside floor for the male because he keeps himself extremely clean and never has an accident on the inside or outside run. The Kurands are bullet proof. I have one bitch that has torn up everything that I put in there for her, but can't tear the K-Bed up.

Sorry that I went on too long, but to sum it up, I would buy them again.

To the above post...some of the dogs are smart enough to tear up the cords you can rap around the gate. My dogs would rip those to shreads, or they would claw them until they shredded.     I highly suggest getting  some chain from Lowes or somewhere, that you can rap around it. We got two pieces, both about a foot long each.  Then we got a set of two locks, that you could put down in the chains and wrapped one chain up higher, one down lower, and put the locks in them. No dog has gotten out of that.

I bought 4 platinum series, were rusted within the year.  I do pressure wash my kennels as well as bleach. But it's not like I'm near the ocean but it is humid here in the summer.  Will be rolling rust stopper over them all this year.  Was really disappointed to have them rust in a year of owning them.

I was going to buy magnum kennels, wonder how those are holding up?

I have two Ultra kennels also, they are very nice and have held up very well.  They are easy to set up, although I do wrap a chain around the gate to make sure they don't open.  I also got the roof panels for one kennel for a climber, it's very sturdy.  I would buy from them again!

I have Ultra Series too and I LOVE them. I connected three 5 ft panels in a straight line to make 15 ft long runs and they hold up fine. After 3 years of use I can't complain about rust. Perhaps there is some on the powder-coated framing, but not enough for me to notice. My dogs don't mess with the doors, and I love the double-latch. I bleach adult kennels twice a year at least (for the most part my dogs actually wait to go out of their runs to do their business) and the bleach did not seem to cause any problems.

I also used their lesser series (I don't remember their name) - one of the cheapest ones, to make an enclosure for the puppy room, and it did get rusty pretty fast in a lot of places, plus the door construction is bizarre and uncomfortable to use. Pups can open the door very easily, so I use a large brick to keep it in place. It works for my purposes though. I wanted a really good price.

Hi Jim,

My brother and I just purchased 3, 5x5's for indoor use this week. We drove down to the factory and picked ours up. We bought the Silver series and have had good luck with them. If you pick them up they take 10% off the price, your probably 2 hours from them. We have six indoor-outdoor runs at my Dad's place  (silver series) and he has had them for a couple years and they look to be in great shape.

I just purchased 4 indoor/outdoor Gold series.  I LOVE them.  They are only 5 feet high but they way the bars are spaced my dogs can not climb them.  The inside area will have a cover for storage once I am done setting them up.

You cant beat the price and the quality.  Plus free shipping.

If you have any questions you can contact me.

Magnums rust just as fast. I have three of them I like them, but could do without the rust! The also went up in price almost $ 200.00 more then I paid three years ago!
