HI :)
I have always done the OFA stamp with all my dogs bred here. USCA does offer the "a" stamp by the SV through them . However my question is I have been informed that the x-ray can be send straight to the SV HD diagnosis without going through USCA is much cheaper .
I am seeking information on applying for a 'a" stamp directly to the SV!!! I have 4 young dogs and thinking of doing the "a " stamp at 12 months OFA at 24 Months .
accruate information is appreciated !!
TIA !!!

Here is the most accurate reply directly from Sabine at the SV !!!!!
They must be submitted through either the WDA or USCA; both are very helpful in this process.

In reference to the HD proceeding I would like to inform you that, if the dogs have been x-rayed in the States the x-rays have to be submitted through WDA or USCA; unfortunately, it is not possible to submit them directly to our office.
I hope I have been able to help you with this information; please, do not hesitate to contact me should you need further assistance.
Best regards

I just submitted to OFA and I had extra sets taken to send to UScA for the SV a stamp program, but I have to first get a 4 generation pedigree from AKC. Does anyone know if they will accept the $10.00 pedigree off the AKC site or do I have to get the more expensive $32.00 Certified Pedigree? Also I have to send my ORIGINAL registration certificate - has anyone ever had any problems getting it back?

We have always gotten the $32 certified pedigree. I think that is the pedigree that WDA accepts. We sent x-rays on one of our young males early last June. We submitted a 4-generation pedigree, original AKC certificate, hip and elbow x-rays, check to USA for the "a" stamp on the hips and a credit card # for the elbow "a" stamp for the SV. Everything was in order. We received our paperwork with the "a" stamps in November 2007. We have never had a problem with the SV returning submitted paperwork. The quickest turnaround in the past on an "a" stamp was 3 months, the longest was the most recent one at almost 6 months. I do not know of any way to hurry the process either.

no need to have an extra set of x-rays taken. next time you ofa (prelim or cert) include $5 and a letter that you want the original x-rays sent back to you. the ofa will destroy the x-rays sent to them anyways. might as well get them back and use them again, or keep for own records. you have 6 months from time of x-ray to submit to SV, enough to ofa first. SV keeps x-rays.

Thanks Kathy and DH, I just wish I didn't have to waste the $32.00 for that stupid "certified 4 gen pedigree" from AKC since my only use for it is to send it as required by the SV "a" stamp program!

I have done 'a' stamp and OFA with most of my dogs and plan to do the same in the future.
I have always sent the 'a' stamp xrays through USA. We have only done one dog through the 'a' stamp for the elbows also and then I just sent my young dogs Xrays for hips/elbows a few weeks ago.
It usually takes awhile to get the results back but I like having one certification done at 12 months. The 'a' stamp costs a little more but I think it is worth it.
USA has always been really helpful and easy to work with for the 'a' stamp program.
