I was wondering what is the best supplement for dogs with arthritis??

My male has arthritis in both elbows( one worse then the other ) and hasn't been lame in a long time, but with the cold weather here in VA, I've noticed him not acting 'right', just a little limping every once in awhile.

I feed him Royal Canin GSD 24, which he likes ( he's very picky ). And I was looking to ad something to help him out.

Baby asprin does work, but I don't want to give it to him too much. And of course the vet says Rimadyl, but again I don't want  him on that all the time either.

Let me know some suggestions., please........

I swear by the NUVet Joint supplement !!!!  Excellent high quality ingredients !!!  I been using this product for years !! It is not cheap but it's well worth the investment !! I also use their vitamin minerall supplement NU Vet plus

We had really great results with a product called Synflex.  My mother's GSD was getting arthritic and slowing down.  Put her on this and she really started moving well again.  We called it her "Happy Juice" because she could play in the backyard like she used to and go for longer walks than she had in a while.

Although they have a specific "dog" version of the product now, we used the "people" version and it worked just fine.  At the time ,that was the only option.  I think the pet version has a different flavoring.  You just pour out the liquid on top of the food.  You can also add to water, but we found she took the dosage better if put on her food.

My cousin live in VA near Richmond and expirienced the same problem with her older dog . Geo would no longer go for walks . Getting up was also laboring for him. He suffers from arthritis elbows and hips :((   2 weeks on Nu Vet and Geo enjoined a walk through the neighborhood , again !!  Geo was on a joint supplement the vet recommended but no changes  in mobility .  He is now over 10 years old yeah he still has stiffness in his joints esspecially when it gets cold and wet  , he chooses to stay in the house  and only go out when he has to to relive himself. Geo always slept in the bedroom  when he could not make the stairs anymore  my cousin was devestated  she opted to sleep on the couch downstairs  becauce her dog was crying to make it up the stairs and at times it was easier to sleep on the couch then help a almost 100 pound dog upstairs . Nu Vet to this day enables the dog to have the mobility to take his place in the bedroom .  :))) slow and steady one step at the time . Sure the day will come and nothing will help him to gain mobility but meanwhile  Geo is back in his old familiar spot  next to the bed :))

I use Canine Complete with joint mobility   www.thewholisticpet.com   Read the customer responses.  That says it all.

Kelly,

I have a 10 year old that has severe(as worse as it can get)arthritis in her elbow. I've tried a number of things to make her more comfortable and nothing worked until I bought  walkabout. I only bought the small size just to see if it would work on her, and I can honestly say I swear by it. It is all natural and has really done wonders on her. She's no longer whining in pain and she is running and playing like a huge(and I mean huge)puppy

Here is the link, www.naturmix.com  I'm telling you this really works for my old girl :-)
