b.h. question ? - Page 1

im training for my bh & i have two questions-first question can you use choke collar for bh ???    Also about a month ago i printed out bh pattern-well now after using it, getting it wet & folding it a  bunch of times, its getting hard to read- problem is i cant remember were i printed it from, could someone give me a site that i could print it from,  hoping soon to memorize it, but hasnt happened yet !!  lol

Hmm. I don't know a website, but I'm sure you can search it up and find it.

There's a very thorough section about it in the rulebook. I can't remnember the last time I studied something so hard. I was so nervous I was going to be the one to fail, not the dog. haha.

And, no. You can't use a choke collar, just a fur saver on the dead ring. :)

Thanks-thats the one i had, ill make 10 copies this time.   did you train for bh with fur saver, ive been using choke, i guess its time to change that !!        That's how i feel, the dogs fine, im  a mess !!!! lol

Haha! I swear that was the most stressful, but relieving experience i've ever had.

Hmm. Well, I used a choke, but kinda slacked on it just because when trial time comes around, they might think they can get away with something cause there's no choke. Lol. But just do what you think will work best for your dog. You all have my support! And I hope you pass the BH better than I did! Lol!

For the BH or any other Schutzhund title the dog has to be trialed on the fur saver.  Dead ring for the on leash portion in the BH.  However that being said.  I train my dogs on the prong collar for obedience and only very infrequently on just the fur saver itself. 

Actually I am pretty sure any chain collar on the dead ring (fur saver or choke) may be used for all.

I just pulled my rule book and it says.

During the trial the dog must be exibited with a chain collar in the neutral position with the leash attached only to the dead ring. Only single- row chain collars are permitted.

i use a fur saver on the dead ring. just relax youll do fine

thanks guys- ill start using dead ring, that way she be use to it & wont think she can do what she wants.  ill let you know how it goes.
