Question to the experts,

can a white shepherd get a conformation rating?

i know they can get title in working trials; can they be bred without a breed survey? what are the requirements for the dog to be breedable? is it a conformation plus a working title plus certified hips?

thank you all,

n.

No they can't

White is a disqualifying fault, they'd be immediately excused.

White dogs cannot be bred under the SV system.

does the akc recognize the white shepherd? can you buy a white german shepherd in the us, or a non-white shepherd out of a white parent, and still register it with the akc?

what are the breeding requirements for german shepherds in the us?

thank you

sadly the only requirements for breeding in the US is to have a dog that is not fixed. there is no one who can make you do anything.

The akc will let you register a white gsd but the dog can not be shown and should not be bred

JMO - no dog should be bred with out hip and elbows done. Or a unregistered dog for that matter.

The AKC will let you reg a white as they also let you register a blue or liver now..

If you decide  that you want a white GSD you should get one but you should not use such a dog for breeding as it is a major falt acording to the AKC and the SV.

I would not perchase any dog based on color. and i would not give any breeder who breeds dogs with falts because they like the color my money ever. Nor support what they are doing becasue that is why there are standards in the first place.

You can register white GSD's with AKC you just can't show them in conformation, it is still considered a disqualifying fault but AKC does not regulate breeding practices like the SV does, so you can breed and register whatever the hell you want.

THE WHITE GERMANS SHEPHERD IS REGISTERED UNDER A SEPERATE REGISTER   THEY ARE   REGISTERED IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN      UNTIL SEVERAL YEARS AGO  AKC DIDNT RECOGNIZE THEM EITHER....HIGH DOLLAR BREEDRS AND SOMEONE WITH MONEY  LOBBIED FOR YEARS AND CAUSED SO MUCH GRUFF....THE ARE    WHITE GERMAN SHEPHERDS  NOT    GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS....SEPERATE CLASS OF THEIR OWN...

NO CONFIRMATION ALLOWED...
