Well, I was wondering if anyone could give me any opionins on Regnum Marianum Kennel in Hungary. I have never imported a dog before and am so scared to do so. I have imports that were imported by someone else, never done it directly. You hear such terrible things about importing dogs and not getting them, etc., but they have a dog I would really like to have. So, any info would be greatly appreciated! Regnum's website looks nice and respectable, but one can never tell these days.

This is a reputable and well-known kennel. However, if you have no experience in doing this, you are potentially setting yourself up for problems. Do they speak excellent English or do you speak Hungarian? If not, you need an intermediary you trust and/or an excellent translator to make sure the agreement/contract you and they make is well understood and agreed upon.
There are also a LOT of questions one should be asking before one buys a dog, especially sight unseen and especially from a person/kennel with whom you do not have prior experience.

Thanks. I do not have anyone that speaks Hungarian. So, now I do not know where to go from here.

You might contact Sue DiCicero and Gabor Szilasi. www.k9imports.com
Although we haven't spoken or corresponded in a while I always found Sue to be very straightforward and helpful. I have no doubt that if they can't help you they could certainly steer you in the right direction.

You can and should look for a translator. Depending on where you live, most cities have companies with translators who are available for hire. If you do not, email me privately and I can provide you with a web site that will give you a selection of translators. You will want to advertise for someone who also has dogs, preferably German Shepherds and also can speak the language.
Good luck.

FionaDunne-thanks, I will look into them.
hodie - I live in the boonies of northeast Texas, so no luck there. And, I think that I am going to keep searching, but if I need a translator, I will be in touch!
I really appreciate the feedback, Have a wonderful evening.
