Local breeder's female has just had a litter of 9.

8 males and 1 female, pretty unusual?

Wondering if the female will be affected by being surrounded by male siblings, could it make her dominant, submissive or have no effect?

that was what we had with our last litter! 9 pups, 8 males 1 female.  3 males still born.  I'm not worried about it.  They all seem to do fine with a large or small amount of females!

I don't think it matters if they're male or female but the smallest and weakest pup isn't going to get the best meals.  With large litters I like to rotate the pups so that everyone gets a fair shake at a full meal.  It takes a bit more work but the pups are better off not having to fight for every swallow.

HUH?

WHAT?

My girl Sam just had a litter of 7 males & 1 female, a PUPPY is a PUPPY to the dam,

it seems like you are the only one that is worried....

Don't be, it will have no affect, although, if the pups stay with their mom too long,
she will push the female pups away from her, cause after awhile, they become
competition to her...................................
