sorry. My wrist hit the enter button, what i meant to say was I dont know what BH stands for because I have seen on webssites that a dog may be earning his BH and my dog has that on his pedigree. and also, does anyone know if the Van den Heuvel blood line is any good?

BH is the first step in Schutzhund. (Loosly translated it means "Traffic Steady Companion Dog".) It's an obedience title.
Van den Heuvel - www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/161076.html
The above is a recent thread. Everyone I've spoken to speaks highly of them.

The BH is the first title to be obtained for a dog working towards the Schutzhund 1, the BH is the obedience title. Some dogs obtain their BH and then AD prior to their Schutzhumd title. The AD title is for agility.

BH stands for obedience title. I have heard all good things about Van den Heuvel kennels in Montana. I have spoken to Dari on the phone about her dogs and was very impressed with her knowledge about her dogs and I myself am looking to buy a pup from her.

BH stands for the German term "Begleithund" or in English, "companion animal". It is the preliminary obedience and temperament test. The SchH title obedience phase adds a few tasks to the BH routine. It must be completed before trying for a Schutzhund title. The BH is NOT a title per se, although it is often assumed to be.
The AD has NOTHING to do with agility. The initials stand for the German term Ausdauerprüfung. This is the 12 mile endurance test a GSD must compete prior to trying for a breed survey (Körung). Further, a dog may not try for the breed survey until it has completed the AD, had hip and now elbows cleared, a show rating of "G" (good) or better and has a Schutzhund 1 or higher title. An HGH, the herding title, may be substituted for the SchH title.

Usually, when discussing GSDs, the AD is describing the 12 mile endurance test.
However, an AD "Agility Dog" is also the beginning agility title awarded by the USDAA (an agility only organization).

Yes, a HGH is also a working title. A HGH dog is not required to have a BH before going for a Schutzhund title as well. A HGH dog also does not need the AD before being presented for a breed survey.

Now you are probably wondering, what the heck HGH means. HGH is the german herding title, stands for Herding Utility dog. This test is what the AKC C Course is based on. The exercises are the same. The main difference is that or the HGH there must be at least 200 sheep, where in AKC the minimum is 20 sheep.
In some of the German pedigrees you might see dogs that are dual titled, HGH and a Schutzhund title. In particular in the Kirchental lines.
