Well I received in the mail today an explaination from the SV in Germany, basically saying the owners of Nero are forbidden to breed/sell under SV rules. Nero has been removed from the stud book, and that they want me to send the pedigree of my Sala Von Batu back to Augsburg so they can stamp her paperwork as ineligible to breed and show under the SV guidelines. What a heartbreak! Five months of training getting her ready to return to Germany for her Exams and x-rays, ect, anticipating breeding this fine bitch and WHAM...cut off at the knees!

Stephen, I missed something, why the ruling? That is a terrible thing to happen after all the work you have done on your female.

That's awful Stephen. They just might be *cuttng themselves off at the knees* for making such a decision.

Which dogs will this ruling effect? Certainly not all of Nero's progeny? That's too many dogs to get registration back on, for many have progeny of their own. (Maestro, Campino, etc) Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Stephen. What plans for your Sala von Batu, or are you still mulling this over?

Ummm...check the date of Stephen's post, folks: it's two years old. Looks like Cecilia "re-activated" it by accident. Nero was banned from breeding as of August 9, 2004, and any progeny bred from him after that date cannot be registered with the SV. No "official" reason was ever given for the ban, but the prevailing rumor is that his breeders had surgery performed upon an elbow or elbows that was never reported to the SV prior to him becoming VA. If I remember correctly, initially the ban was placed upon all progeny, but was later amended to only progeny produced after the above date. So Stephen didn't wind up getting screwed after all.

p59-- Would be interesting to learn how someone can reactivate a post with only the first post exposed. I would think SGBH's post two years ago would have prompted many a response, even then. Wish Stephen saw it before me...

Well........ I looked at the Octber 12th part! Totally missed the year. No wonder I messed something. Stephen, I'm glad it worked out for you!

I was offered a pup out of Nero and knew fortunately of the ruling and declined, even though it was a nice pup. The SV rarely takes such serious actions and it is a warning to the breeders not to cheat. That being said, he did produce a lot of nice dogs and it is too bad everyone who owned a dog after a certain time will not be able to show or register the dog in Germany. I also believe the AKC has taken a similar stance.

Yes that is an old post. When the dust settled, My Sala Von Batu was not included in the ban(she was born in March 2004, before the ban). All titling/showing went fine. She is still in Germany waiting to be bred(Looks like a Vegas breeding, possibly) and will come home(around January 2007), hopefully pregnant.

Duh, didn't look at the year... Glad she's titled, Stephen! Hope you get her back pregnant! :)
