what shots are a MUST for dogs before a club would accept them?

and...

are all seven-in-one shots for the same thing? what do they cover? boss had a seven-in-one shot when he was 9-weeks old, but i dont know what was in it/ what kind of shot it was for....i didnt know then to write all of that down... i had saved the box for a while but i think it accidently got thrown away...

I don't know about what a club would require but I imagine not a lot since a lot of people don't do many immunizations

A seven way is a real shock to the system.  My vet only gives the "core" vaccines every three years and says we are not in a lepto endemic area.  Leptospirosis is responsible for MANY vaccine reactions and is not a very effective vaccine.  A lot of people do initial vaccinations and have titers done.  Titers should be accepted as evidence of immunity if you go that route.

This is a vaccination guide that gives a pretty good discussion of what each vaccine is and what is recommended and how often.  I have to get mine done by a veterinarian for attending seminars, search and rescue records, etc. (even though you can buy them at a store) and that way I also am going to be notified if there is a recall issue with a particular lot.

DHLPPC is what I like to give.

D  istemper

H  epatitis

L  epto

P  arvo

P  arainfluenza

C  orona

But after a few years of booster shots I completely quit giving the above vaccinations.  I then only vaccinate for Bordetella (intra-nasal) every 6 months and a yearly rabies.  I do titers instead!  Most clubs will want you to have rabies for sure!

Did you get the link to work?  I just tried from the message and it was good.  It is a pdf file

Lepto is really the one I would ask about .......... different varieties of the virus in different areas and frequency of dosing is much more frequently if you need to give the shot .............you have to give it more often than the other vaccines.  Of the vaccines, I believe it hast he highest frequency of side effects and is least effective

My vet is dead against it in my area, even though we are in the woods and not so great areas a lot................(going to recheck with her though about it)

DHPP in their puppy series, first year adult DHPP, then titers after that.  Kind of my own little experiment.  :)   I do vaccinate for Lyme only because we are in a Lyme endemic area and have seen too many dogs go into kidney failure from Lyme Disease.  And of course Rabies every three years.

I don't think that we've ever checked vaccine history on any club dogs!  LOL  The only one for sure that people have to furnish upon request is Rabies.
