I would appreciate any info from others with more experience...My female is in excellent health, just had a full blood/chemistry/thyroid panel with her physical, is 27 months old..and has always been like clockwork with heat cycles.Expect her heat cycle in mid-Feb., but my male is suddenly VERY interested, VERY, VERY!! My female is not swollen, shows no discharge...or any other signs which I see in her right before her heat cycles....But there's no question, my male is acting as if she's in heat already! I am guessing this means that her heat must be right around the corner..anyone with a greater knowledge than mine--info appreciated...I just worry that it could be a sign of a hormonal abnormality....and don't want to sit and wait if I should be having her re-checked for any issues....Thank you all for any input!

Check her for a urinary tract infection.  I also had this happen except that the bitch had a pyometra!

Good Luck!

My male gives me about two weeks warning before a bitch comes in heat. He follows them, licks them, gives them "the eye".  If your bitch is one month early according to your calculations it means nothing. It can be 4, 5, 6 , 7 months between cycles. She is young and spring is coming (to her). Don't worry but start checking her with the tissue daily. I think she is fine and expect a heat in a few weeks.

One of my females just came in to heat 2 months early. She has always been in heat at 6 months intervals before this one. It happens. It is normal.

Must be in the air.....My 28 month old bitch  hasbeen like clock work. every 6 months. Noe she is 1 month early...has global warming affected their heat cycle? No real winter in these parts. (NJ)

I also just had one come in a month early, as the days get longer it is natural for dogs to get ready for spring puppies.
