Can anyone tell me if they have used Bil-Jac dog food and if so what type of results did you have? Talked to a breeder recently that says she has been using it for 20 years and swears by it. Just wanting opinions.

I start my puppies on it, because it is easier to digest. Also use it for my older dogs, easier on their teeth. I have used it for years and my dogs do good on it and love it. Have also used the frozen Bil-Jac for training for years. Also good to use if you have a sick, elderly dog or recovering for surgrey. If I have a dog that needs to put on weight, I ad the frozen to the regular dog food. JMO.

Frozen Bil-Jac is great tracking bait - doggy crack.

The last time we used Bil-Jac was when my mother purchased her female shepherd over 12 years ago. The breeder suggested Bil-Jac and we used it as a puppy food for her without any problems. When my male shepherd started getting skin issues, we started reading labels, and found Bil-Jac uses by-products and is preserved with BHA (not good).
I think when there are so many choices now in regards to more natural foods, you'd do well to check out some other brands. The best thing to do is pick the food you feel is the best, then try it on your dog. He'll let you know if it's working or not. For example, some people swear by Solid Gold, but for some reason my dogs don't like it and their coats aren't as good. Expensive food and great ingredients, but doesn't sit well with my dogs. We've tried Royal Canin and their coats have never been better. We've also had success with Natural Balance and Nutro Natural Choice foods.

Are you sure your not thinking of Bil Jac kibble? The frozen is completely different from the kibble, but not availiable everywere since they refuse to ship it.

Nallop -
There are SO many other dogfoods out there that are better than Bil-Jac. I wouldn't buy a dogfood that the 3rd ingredient is CORN. ugh. Go to their website. Also, LOTS of threads on the message board about various superior dogfoods out there.
However, some SCHh trainers thuse the moist treats for training and they swear by them.

You can't find it on their regular website unless you live in an area where you can buy it, you have to live near Oklahoma where it's processed because they won't ship it (sort of like how Coors used to be). Here is a link to the list of ingredients: http://www.completepetmart.biz/bifrdogfo2lb.html

I use Bil-Jac large-breed food when I cannot obtain Royal Canin GSD Maxi 24, and the dogs are able to switch back-and-forth with ease. I do like the smaller kibble, as it does not swell appreciably when dampened . I use their large-breed puppy formula for baby puppies, as the kibble is much easier for them to chew.
Possibly, the shape of the Royal Canin kibble cleans adult teeth better-that was the reasoning about the kibble size and shape that was stated at a Royal Canin seminar I attended. I still prefer the Royal Canin but use Bil-Jac for what seems to be an excellent alternative.

Bob-O
