Someone I know wants to learn do tracking with her Dogue de Bordeaux. She has found this training center in PA but doesn't know if it is the right place to train. I have no clue- the only thing I know about the man is he apprenticed under Randy Kromer, is certified in a number of disciplines, and trains all breeds in obedience. (all on his website)

Thanks in advance for any info you may have

I have never heard of John P. Jones, but I DO offer private lessons in tracking here in Lehighton, PA, any breed, at reasonable fees.

Hi Sally,

I've been training with John over the past year, and would definately recommend him.  Both he and Becca are excellent trainers, who know what they're doing and I have learned so much from.  If you've seen the website, I'd say it's a good representation of what they and their dogs can do.   One thing that's always stood out to me about John, is his ability to recognize that every dog (and handler) are different, and to see where they are and what they need to keep moving forward as a team.

I think it would be a great place for your friend to train, but the best advice I can give, is to have your friend call John, and set up to visit during training.  Due to all the wintery conditions there isn't much tracking going on at the moment (my poor pup's heart is breaking).  But Obedience and Protection training still happens every week.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, let me know.

Thanks for your reply-- I don't know what she decided to do but I'll pass along the message

Nothing wrong with tracking in snow.

I also know John and Becca, they are good people and experienced, good to their dogs and I recommend them - I've trained with them with my  narcotics K9.  Their facility is a bit "out of the way" but not difficult to find, near State College PA.
