Hi guys, Just wondering the average weight of a newborn GSD . My baby is about to have a litter, and I am worrying about everything lol.

The average weight depends in part on the litter size, i.e. larger litters tend to have slightly smaller puppies. It is my experience that a normal puppy from a large litter weighs about sixteen (16) ounces (454 grams). It is normal to see heavier puppies that are as much as 50% larger, especially with a smaller litter.
That is where it pays to know how many puppies a bitch's womb holds. The danger with fewer, larger puppies is that they can cause a birth complication and possibly require a C-Section. I don't say this to scare you, but you should just take that as advice.
Best Regards and Good Luck!

I checked my records from my first litter( and mom's first litter) of 9 puppies. 2-1 lb, 2- 1lb1 oz, 5- 1 lb2oz. I feed raw and find that the puppies are all pretty even at birth and very vigorous. At 1-week the weights were: 1- 2lb3oz, 5-2lbs, 2-1lb 9oz, 1-1lb7oz. I made sure the smallest pup got on the back nipples and 2 days later he was 2lb2oz, the biggest gain of the group. I started feeding raw ground chicken mixed with goats milk at 3 weeks because the alligators were tearing up mom and she had a hard time staying in the box long enough for everyone to get enough to eat. At 4 weeks I introduced chicken necks smashed some, took away the goats milk and gave ground chicken or beef. By 5 weeks they were eating the necks whole, mom was nursing them 2x/day, morning and bedtime.

My last litter was 9 whelps. They ranged in weight from 653.2 grams to 965.6 grams with most on the larger side, over 930 grams.

Gsdlver2, those were very large puppies for a litter of nine (9). I know they sometimes hit the two-pound mark, but that tends to be rare. I am pleasantly surprised that you did not indicate any birth complications.
