Is it me or is there an amazing amount of Stud ads on this site for untitled males now.  This board is certainly not what it used to be, they used to be the minority here not the majority.  I'm not one of those holier than thou people about titles but I  don't think people should be should advertise untitled males for outside cover...like they are something special.

I didn't put an ad up for my boy until he got his SchH3...even though he was a police dog I didn't do it, especially here, because it wasn't "respectable".

I hate to pull up specific ones and hurt feelings, but one posted today particularly get's my goat...a decendent of "White King of Rin Tin Tin"?????

What? (sarcasm and snicker)

A dog should have some sort of qualification to be considered breed worthy? Damn, there are just too many here who will disagree. They will breed their white GSD, they will breed the long coat, and damn it, if they want to, they will breed their male or female, qualified or not, titled or otherwise accomplished or not, healthy or not, old enough or not, poor temperament or not (if they even know what any of this means). After all, this is the good old USA and the people are FREE to do whatever they please.

The board is now a free for all.  Anyone and anybody can and does post litter after litter of pet quality dogs they are trying to pass off as something other than pet quality. People breed dogs when the dogs have nothing to offer the breed but lots of green to offer the owner selling to the first idiot who comes along. People give poor advice here about just about every topic and no one seems to care. It is one thing to try to make a site available for all, but in making it for the masses, it has degenerated into a less than useful tool. Like the internet in general, what wonderful power and opportunity....but alas, it is all too often abused and has been wasted.

Too many of the really knowledgeable people have left and given up. Now that it has degenerated, I doubt it can ever come back to the really valuable site it once was.

Why are you so fast with your judgement If that boy has a good pedigree linage and is OFA good Ellbows good  has good temperament why not put him up for  stud, why don't you find out if he is titled before you make a judgement, all you guys are doing is advertise and sale your titles, The offspring of titled dogs DON"T COME WITH TITLES. 4 years ago I purchased my Bitch out of untiled Parents and she has SchH3 and SAR.

You're right GF. Most of the ads you are questioning are from AM bred GSD's. In their defence according to the AKC titles are not necessary.  The SV does require it.  Overall the board is not what it used to be.  Entirely too many newbies throwing BS into the board.  Commentary about dog fighting, who got burned by who and all kinds of assorted BS that has nothing to do with GSD's.  If you have noticed there is not the commentary from European members like there used to be.  But they still advertise, lol.

Your dog is a very nice example of the breed.  But I know this from having worked and observed him.  When picking a stud one must see the dog work in all three phases to get an idea of what the dog has offer.  So picking a stud goes beyond titles.  How many Sch 3 black and red dogs are you impressed with and would breed to sight unseen?

It's not just the stud ads, its all the ads. But a serious buyer who wants to buy from qualified parents will wade through teh muck to find the quality dogs from serious breeders.

This board's popularity has indeed ruined it. Someone needs to make a webboard where you have to be pre-approved via your qualifications just to join, weed out the trolls, know-it-alls, and drama mongers.

Oh, wow. I just saw the ad you referred to. I'm not normally catty, but really, can we neuter the dog and the owners?  That's just a crime against the breed.

Here is another one that will make you wonder if we can get a fund for neutering or spaying or brain transplanting advertisers:

People just want to make money off of the dogs. It's the I have a German Shepherd, let's have puppies so we can make money mentality.  Not doing research...but bringing more mediocre dogs into the world.

Oh yes.........don't people typically wait until they are at LEAST two years of age before breeding a female????  I know that's what the veterinarians I work for reccommend.....

I have a male that I have bred twice and plan to be breeding to an outside female....he is NOT Schutzhund titled, but is a working SAR dog with national certifications and state trainings/evaluations.  In my opinion this is more than okay, some may disagree when turning their noses up that I've had a litter by an untitled stud.......

But I do agree that people should breed dogs that are titled or certified through some area of work/sport and hip certifications a MUST.
