As you know, Palm Beach County is poised to pass a mandatory spay and
neuter ordinance, that if passed, will spread throughout the state.

While every dog lover is repulsed by the wholesale killing that goes
on in shelters, the claims of pet overpopulation and not enough homes
defy logic when dogs from the Caribbean are routinely imported for
adoption.

DVG has been asked to take a position on this proposed legislation,
and like the situation in California, Carole Patterson is sending a
letter stating DVG's opposition and invites all DVG members to get
involved.

requests that everyone show up for the public hearings on Jan 15 @ 10:30 am and pack out the place.

Diane says, "As with the California AB 1634 legislation, there is no
exemption for working dogs - the whole proposed ordinance is flawed...
Commissioners we need to concentrate on are Commissioners Koons, McCarty, Aaronson - Commissioner Marcus probably is a lost cause because of her long-standing relationship with Kay Lynette Roca, Director of Safe Harbor in Jupiter (they've known each other since childhood) - Commissioner Kanjian has already stated he is opposed to this ordinance and he's been working with us - Commissioner Greene (Chairperson of the County Commission) is another difficult one to get through to."
