wildstrobe

by wildstrobe on 05 January 2008 - 16:01

Large, in good ratio constructed, mittelkräftige, dry, firm, rich dog with very good expression.  High Widerrist, beautiful line, good length and situation of the Kruppe.  Very good sign lungs, balanced breast ratios, just front.  Correct Schrittfolge, very fluid, powerful gears.  Certain being.  TSB stamped lets; off.

Special advantages of deficiencies:  Harmonious, feminine total appearance.

Above mentioned is an incomplete translation from German to English in which some of the words like 'sign lungs','just front''schrittfolge' etc are not translated. So friends pls help me .. translate these  German words.

Large, well-proportioned, medium strong, dry, firm, richly pigmented dog with very good expression. (I am just guessing 'rich' refers to pigment.)  High withers, good topline, good length and angle of the croup. Very good  angulation (Winkelungen, that's where they got the 'lungs' from!)  balanced chest proportions, straight in front (i.e., not easty-westy)  Correct gaits (literally, step-follow, or step sequence), very fluid, powerful movement. Confident, TSB pronounced, lets out.

BTW, I'm not terribly fluent in German, but if you study Koer reports, it's easy to get the hang of them, because they follow a very definite formula, and the same phrases appear over and over again.  Just get your hands on some Koer reports in English, and compare the two, you'll get the hang of it fairly soon!  Some of the words are very similar to the English words, which is a big help. E.g.: Kruppe = croup, Widderist = withers

The last bit refers to the animal's usefullness for breeding, and usually says something like: Recommended for the correction of  (whatever) type of deficiencies. I can't give you an exact translation without knowing the actual German words.

Some examples of common phrases:

TSB ausgeprägt; läßt ab. (or, läßt aus.)  TSB pronounced, lets out.

Sehr gute Winkelungen der Vor- und Hinterhand   Very good angulation of fore and hind  (in the horse world, we say forehand, in German they say both 'forehand' and 'hindhand', but 'hindhand'  has no English translation.)

Korrekte Brustverhältnisse, gerade Front -  Correct chest proportions, straight front

Sehr guter Kopf  - very good head

Groß, sehr typ- und ausdrucksvoll - large, very typey and expressionful, or, more commonly:

Sehr guter Typ und Ausdruck - very good type and expression

trocken und fest  - dry and strong

....although I've never quite understood what 'dry' meant in regards to conformation! Can someone please explain?

Wildstrobe,

what you posted sounds very weird.  That is usually what you g et when you use theses so called translation devices.

Could you post the complete German breed survey report?

Chris
