Steve Leigh,
Thank you for the URL! I think this kind of sport should be illegal, it's animal cruelty. It's disgusting even looking at the videos (at the bottom of your page).

What do you mean by "sooner or later it will affect dog training too"?

i'll admit i did read all the PROPAGANDA on the page (yes that is what that page was) but i got some info out of it. it is perfect propaganda. you can tell as it starts out with 9-11, and oklahoma city... given everything that follows an ominous tone. and what about all the statements without any proof what so ever? things like they won't end the animals suffering because
1) An injured but ambulatory animal can still be sold.
2) Veterinarian and euthanasia to put an animal to sleep costs money.
3) A euthanized carcass can not be sold for slaughter.
4) A downed animal, left to die on its own, can result in an insurance claim payment.
5) If euthanasia is chosen, there will be no insurance payment, as the owner elected to euthanize the animal.
while i'm not saying that any of these statements themselves aren't true in their own right. what i'm asking is where's the proof that anyone does these things. couldn't the same be said of the large active kennels in our breed? believe me any of these well known and highly sought after studs are insured. and all the same things apply to them but i'm sorry i can't see any of them not humanely putting one of these studs down to just let him suffer until dead to collect the insurance money. ( but then again i can't say that its never been done by them either)
yes i agree that the electric shocks are a bit extreme and the kicking of animals is wrong, but claiming that everyone involved kicks their animals is wrong. so just because one dog trainer made the news with video footage of him kicking one of his dogs means that every dog trainer does this? obviously not.
the statement that the horses won't buck without the hot shot again is wrong. although some may not always buck, try to ride an untamed horse once and see how long he stays placid.(or you stay on)
the guy stated from the start that he's only been to one rodeo and that he's ignorant when it comes to them and he's just passing along this info. be careful here. i can take just about any sport and make a case that it is inhumane wether it use animals or just humans. i could make video of dog sports and meke it seem the most cruel and inhumane sport ever invented.
let's see i could film the prong collars. the electric shock collars. then show a dog that is injured on the feild (how inhumane to make an animal do these things until it hurts itself) maybe his owner won't take him to the vet because it cost money. and the kicker i'll show that these animals are abused and opressed into performing by showing that rare handler agressive dog that trys to nail his handler. obviously most dogs love to do the work but i'll state that it's obvious that NONE of these dogs are willing participants.
PROPAGANDA is PROPAGANDA and can be spun to validate any side of any story. so before you blindly axcept anything espeacially on the internet remeber the old saying: DON'T BELIEVE EVRYTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE!

forgot that i'd start out with "never since the cruel days of legal slavery have we seen anything as inhumane. it harkens up images in ones mind of the oppression of the kuwaity people under their tyranical dictators."
aaahhh PROPAGANDA

Hello Ram,
Its been a while. Would you care to make your point of this post a little clearer?
Whats on your mind? I already know about rodeos, and dog trainers. Whats the slavery/Kuwaity comment about?
Call me stupid but I dont understand what your trying to get across.

Steve,
There is surely no shortage of missleading information on the internet.
As well no shortage of mistreatment of animals.
Whats your answer to all of this?

by Two Moons on 27 December 2007 - 19:12
And to all,
The word sport says it all. Sport is for the entertainment of man.
It has nothing to do with the animals. It has to do with man and choices.
Does anyone care to tell me that man by nature isnt cruel?
Am I my brothers keeper? Or do we each answer for ourselves?
I kinda have the seasonal blues if you know what I mean.
Another day in paradise.
Everyone should do a little reflecting for the new year.
Good luck.

hey 2 moons. in my original post i stated how the rodeo propaganda started out with 9-11, and oklahoma city... given everything that follows an ominous tone. so when i stated i could write an article about dogs sports being inhumane i forgot that i should mention true to life inhumane things to start off my article (can't get much more inhumane than human slavery) so that everything i write after that would have that ominous tone.
just trying to remind everyone that things can and often times are slanted to the writers thinking. don't let partial info. cloud your mind on any subject.

Thats very true.
Its a shame that so many people are influenced by so few.
Tells you something about our times and where things are heading.
Thanks for explaining your purpose, I do hope people learn to get involved and seek the truth.
But I dont hold out alot of hope for us. I think we're screwed lol.
Best wish's and have a happy new year ram.
Later......
