I am wanting to learn more about working lines in hopes of my next dog being one. I do not know enough about individual working lines to begin my search, so thought I would look around, find a dog that fits the look I like, and then learn more about what makes up that line and type.
This dog http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/pictures/15953.jpg is very much the type I like, and I see he has produced dogs that are alike. Can anyone tell me if this dog is DDR, West German, Czech, etc? Any other information on this dog? Thank-you.

My own stud is a Dasty grandson and he is built very much like his grandfather, big blocky head and all.
Dasty would be considered West German but his granddam on the sire side is DDR bred. His daughter Randa (my own dog's dam) is probably one of my all time favorite bitches. I'm a little biased though:)

Thank-you for answering. I would like a dog with a lot of bone and a nice big head. As far as temperament goes, I do not want extreme go all the time drive, but I definately want a dog that will have/has the ability to work whether that be schutzhund or agility. I don't want a dog that will show handler aggression and I do not mind if the dog is standoffish with strangers. I do not mind if the dog is slow maturing. I just wondered how I can start looking around for breeders, when I do not know much about the working line. Do you have a website I could look at, MIGSD?

My old site is up right now until I get the other back up and running. http://windlied.tripod.com/index.html You may get a few pop ups on that one.
I'm in love with my old boy. He's solid as a rock but could care less about you if aren't part of his world. He was a kennel dog most of his life but he lives in the house with 3 other dogs and 5 cats now.
He a great dog all the way around until you try to collect semen. I found out the hard way that you don't play with the jewels.

This bomb detection dog, a nice bi-color German import bitch, belongs to a good friend of mine. She is excellent for doing OB and detection work-she has an intense desire to please and will work until you're done. She's line-bred 3-2 on Dasty vom Gries. Very nice work ethics, even for a female, but a little on the high strung side. Bred for only one litter produced Nov 2006, produced alot of black-nice pups. She's an escape artist, too. lol.

HI MI GSD
thanks for the nice comment !! Xantor was available for a short time . I opted to let him go to a lady that will work him and will provide an excellent home . I have had some inquires about him but people sometimes are unrealistic and due to my way of expression guess they thought I lie LOL so I opted on a much lesser price and his new owner Dianne . Afterall she has seen him work for the past 13 months in their club . He is a very nice dog, I have a special fondness of him since he has been a pup !!I am currently really focusing on Eon Löwenhof so Xantor would have gotten the back burner training and that would have not been fair to him.
