In Albany, Georgia, Justin Lee's body was returned from Iraq, but his constant companion K=9 Lex, flew home , with Marine Corp. members, to be presented in a ceremony to Justin's Parents...They were both bombed , and Lex stayed by Justins , body licking his wounds, until the medics came to his aid...Lex has been retired with honors, and Justins love for his loving German Shepherd K-9, who never left his side, will ever be in spirit, thru Lex , with Justins parents....They cant have Justin back, but Justins' mother said she has him in spirit , thru Lex.... This was aired today on CBS news at 5 o'clock, with Katy Curic

Here's some of the story. There are several sources: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/20/marine.dog/index.html God Bless our men and women who serve in Afganistan and Iraq, and God Bless their K9's who serve with them.

Now THATS a dog any of us should be proud to produce.

Good dog. That's a dog we can be proud of. Very sad for the family, especially at this time of year.

He is a great looking speciman ,,,I cried when I saw the ceremony and he sat with his tags and his medals of honor, on him. He was a bomb sniffing dog and a K-9, that never left Justins side,,,They showed the uniform Lex wore, while riding in a helicopter and when in the field...what a story.....Beautiful dog....and Justin"s Mom had the leash in her hand as they walked to the cameras for their interview...

I don't have to read it, I am picturing it with tears in my eyes. I just wish they were "both" truly home for Christmas and for good... Bless our troops.

This is the best thing the government has done in a long time...It's the first time a Working K-9 has been retired early and was allowed to be adopted by the family of a fallen soldier...Or even to be allowed to be adopted by a soldier before his normal retired date...The government considers a K-9 as a piece of equipment...Used up and thrown away...Finally I can applaud the U.S. Government for getting it right and doing the right thing to salute one of our own... ~Bob~

Lex outranks any title any dog can have in my book. This boy not only trained for it, he experienced it and lived it. Not many dogs get this type of exposure. Long live Lex...Lex for Stud?...Just a thought.
