Dawn G. Bonome

I am seeing that alot more breeders are using the Wallace lines. Does anyone think that this particular line is going to be over used as the Ursus line was in the past? Are alot of German breeders using this line alot? How much is too much? I hope that this is not the case. He is a nice dog, but not one of my favorites. Dawn

My Puppy is a Wallace and Yasko grandson. I love him he has a great desposition not flighty and over stimulated like some. He has a beautiful coat and even though still young his hind end is building up nicely. My wife thinks he has a big butt but I don't think so. What I like about Wallace is the strenght in his rear legs. His back is a little roached for my liking but his overall build and strenght are great. I can't tell about coloring from the picture but mine is a beautifull black and red that was helped by the Yasko line. My puppy is great with other dogs and is very trainable in that there is not a big fight over dominance with me yet he seems to have above average prey and play drives. From what I have learned about Wallace is that he produces offspring that have many of his good traits but his weaker traits are not passed on as much. I don't know if this is true or not but in my limited experience it seems true. Mine is a long stock coat but I don't care about that. I think that came down trough both the Grandmother on the Wallace side and the Yasko/mate side. Not sure if he is a carrier of LSC or not.

Didn't Wallace die of bloat?

You can ask Jane Steffenhagen

I would not be concerned about a seeming "big butt" on a GSD. Such structure indicates that there is probably good pelvic bone and/or rear muscle mass. As long as the width does not cause the span between the rear feet to be so great that the tracking of the feet rear-to-front is affected, I would not be concerned. Regards, Bob-O

Is their an issue with bad hearts in that line??? I'm new to the showlines and learning, but I believe I was told that by a few breeders not too long ago...??

wHO ACTUALLY OWNED WALLACE ? I WOULDNT TAKE RUMORS AS GOSPEL....ASK FOR A VET REPORT IF YOU THINK A PROGHENY PROBLEM EXISTS....HE WAS SURE BRED A LOT OF TIMES , AND ONLY WHAT WE CAN SEE ON THE DATABASE , IS NOT THE WHOLE LIST.,I WOULD IMAGINE....IF HE IS STILL ALIVE HE WOULD BE 10 YEARS OLD THIS COMING YEAR...
