Permission to Cross Post was given. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-these-2-beautiful-police-dogs-who-have-saved-others Green Bay currently has two police K9's. The police officers union has a contract dispute with the administration. The way things stand right now the K9 program will end on January 1 and the officers have been told their police dogs will be euthanized. So I ask that you take the time to sign the petition or contact the Green Bay Police Chief and voice your position. Call & complain to Jim Arts, Green Bay Police Chief, who has much say about the future of these dogs & this valuable program. 1-920-448-3200 or fax at 1-920-448-3248!! If you visit other web board I would ask that you post this information on as many boards as possible. The threat of Killing police service dogs should never be a negotiating issue for a pay dispute. How unprofessional is that??? ________________________________________________________________________ I have been watching this unfold in the news. The Green Bay Police Chief is playing games with the talk of budget, but it appears to be a more personal issue. Please show your support.

Why in the world would they put these dogs down...I mean there are other police depts that would love to have them...and if not I would be happy to adopt them... ~Bob~ e-mail: BleuHaus@tc3net.com Home: 517-448-8030 Cel: 517-270-5010

That is just sick. After all of the memorials to fallen dog heros and they're just going to euthanize their own K-9 partners? Makes no sense and hopefully someone in power will see the idiocy of the situation and stop it. I will not only sign the petition but also make a call. Thanks for bringing this to light WiscTiger.

umm...why cant their handlers adopt them--after all...don't they live with them anyways? go to www.dopedog.com (--down to botton to message board to forum)---aka k9solutions center>>>>see 12/18/07 post re: IPO vs SCH by zender--where i got this link.... *********dee****************

Spoke with Sherry, Chief Arts Secretary, and she said IF the dept. disperses the K9 unit the handlers will be offered chance to keep their dogs. If they decline, the dogs will be sold to other appropriate law enforcements departments. Sherry is emailing me a written statement I will be happy to share with any concerned gsd people. Thank you, cindy graffam

I live in Green Bay and have been following this story on the news also. I hadn't heard anything about the dogs being euthanized but perhaps that information had not been made public until now. I would hope the handlers would keep them.
