You got that right, Cora! Deika is proven in training and producing. I really like the Wannaer Hohen kennel and breedeing program. If you like Deika take a look at this female also, Exe vom Schmeidegarten.
I have an Olix W.H. Daughter and a Wendi W.H. son.

I bet you have enjoyed both. I saw both Olix and Onyx as young dogs and enjoyed watching Deika several times while on sabbatical in Bremerhaven. The last time I saw Deika, I think she was expecting her 8th litter and her condition was so good, she looked like she had never had a litter ever.

That must have been nice to see top dogs and training in person. What I find interesting about both dogs is their boundless energy. When I put the AD on the dogs I only needed to get them used to the bike. They settle nicely in the house but are machines when outside and training. They also have a natural retrieve which makes training so much easier. Cora are you still training dogs?

Deika was very much like you describe. She had a rock solid core - calm, focused and so very powerful.
I don't train SchH any longer but continue to train my favorite sport - tracking.

Deika was also a very strong producing female, to me that is for me even more important than her fabulous sport career that she had herself. Dieter Traeger managed not only to show her 3 times successfully at the BSP, but she also had 10 litters of puppies altogether. That to me is absolutely amazing. She was the picture book working mother as was her daughter Uschi.
Her offspring was far over average and she had multiple direct progeny that competed at the BSP. Just to name a few: Uschi, Wasko, Wendi and Olix. Further is she the grandmother of multiple outstanding dogs like: Orry (BSP), Ole (BSP), Ilka (very successful with a youth handler), Morris (border patrol/police), Casha (LGA) and not to forget my little girl Yara von den Wannaer Hoehen.
Deika and Uschi were the reason why I purchased Yara as a puppy. I am always looking for a strong mother line for my brood bitch and I definitely found that with this line.
It further seems as if health and longevity is another positive trait of this line. Deika herself had her last full litter of puppies (5 puppies) at the age of almost 10 years old. Uschi had Yaras litter when she was 8,5 years old and she recently died with almost 13 years of age. RIP Mama !!!
Yara herself snapped back into shape within a few weeks after her litter (she actually was tucked up two weeks after the puppies stopped nursing to the point that people could not believe that her puppies were just 8 weeks old). That to me shows the quality of a breeding female as well.
I would always go back to this line and I am happy and proud that I can call a Deika granddaughter my own. I hope that we can continue this line keeping those good traits alive.
