I am working on heel with my girls. I hold toy at chest level on the side they are on, and wiggle to keep them consentrated on it . One dog will jump for it, but I speed up to stop her. the other isn't very enthused. She walks at my side but lags a bit. Also, I reward by throwing the toy in front of them, but I wonder if I should give it right to them while they are heeling, they are more excited when I throw. Just so you know the lagging dog is more possive than prey driven, she likes to have the toy. The other likes to chase and kill it. So how do I get heel right. The lagger has another problem, she does not bark for toys. She barks at people, but not for toys. This is a problem because I am working on speak too. Saying watch 'em will get a bark but then she runs to the fence. Nothing like the barks you get for a bark and hold. I tried to tie her and frustrate a bark out of her but nothing more than a whine. Any tricks that can get a bak. I also tried to use the other as an example.
Lastly, the dog with the most drive has a problem with one of her legs. I think it's joint related because she had a limp as a pup but grew out of it. Now when she jumps or spins when going after a ball she crys out. Would the glucosamine you all talk about help this. The vet never really checked it out because she has to be running or jumping for it to act up.
