you take them outside and let them do their business :) It's easy training :)

You want them to use one area of your yard, then take them out on leash to their area. Leave a small "sample" so they know that it's OK to go there.

I say teach them to use a real toilet.

We have our kennel's bedded with Sawdust, so when people buy a pup from us, we send a bag of sawdust home with them, tell them to spread it in the area they want the dogs to use for potty area and whalah, they take them out once or twice to that area, and they go almost immediately... what's better is that buyers report that our pups are the "easiest" pups they have ever had to "house train", I think it's alot to do with them knowing that they're potty area is outside where the sawdust is and once they have been shown that area they WANT to go out there to potty... It's a win win !!! You may try "marking" the area with sawdust or something the like, see if that will help you and the dog to "recognize" this is his/her area.... Good Luck, hope this helps.

You can also combine the "spot" training with a command. My guys all use "Hurry up outside". They're started as babies, so when they go where they should, they get "good hurry up outside"...after a short while they figure out where to go (because they get the praise) and that they're there for a reason. It's a great tool later when it's raining or you're running late for work, or whatever - I send them out with the "Hurry up outside" - they go to their spots, go and back in...no wandering around, looking at birds, and the other timewasting things they seem to invent. Whan bam, they done and IN! Good luck!

Spreading German Celery seeds in the area you want them to use works well also.

GSDguy08-can you post directions for this? I'd like to try it for my husband and sons.
