Hello All I am having a problem regarding this question. Please help me sorting out the puzzle: * For example: If a bitch(AAA) gets mated with a male(XXX) in her 14 days of heat circle. Then if she again gets mated with another male(YYY) in her 15 days of heat circle. Atlast if she again gets mated with the same male(XXX) in her 16 days of heat circle. OR * For example: If a bitch(AAA) gets mated with a male(XXX) in her 14 days of heat circle. Then if she again gets mated with another male(YYY) in her 15 days of heat circle. Now my question is-: What will exactly happen in the first option and what will exactly happen in the second option? In the first option which sperm will the female concieve? And In the second option which sperm will the female concieve? I know my question might sound stupid. Still if possible help me out friends. Thank You

I believe that with either she the female can have pups from either male. The only way to know for sure who's the daddy is to DNA test the sires and the puppies. You can have a mixed sire litter (if PB) with the AKC. You need I believe a MultiSire letter and DNA testing.

It is possible that you can get puppies from both males! The female can consieve puppies from both males and a males sperm can survive inside the female for up to about 4 to 7 days. You will need to do DNA to figure out who is the daddy of who! If your dogs are AKC registered AKC has handled situations like this before and can help you! Vickie www.PowerHausKennels.com

if you are saying that your bitch was bred by two different males....... i don't see that you have any choice but to rely on dna testing to determine the sire of each pup. pjp

Thank you all for the above replies. So what stands is without DNA, its not possible to say which sperm has detoriate the female and she can also have a mixed litter. Actually I want to be sure that will the first studs sperm detoriate her most or the last another studs sperm? Thank You

I can't say if this is typical, but I mated one of my bitches at around 11 and 13 days and a week later she was accidently mated by another dog. The resulting litter was 3 by the first dog and 5 by the second. Margaret N-J

a female can also have purebred AND mixed breed puppies in one litter - all siblings, but from two different sires (say one sire a GSD and the other a visiting lab). molly

The female will not have pups from 2 different males. Once the eggs are actually fertilized, they will no longer allow any sperm to penetrate the membrane. So either the first "batch" of semen from the first dog "took", or the 2nd dog's semen "took" or, the first males semen fromt he 2nd time took. It is impossible for both males to sire progeny from the same bitch, during the same mating cycle.

wrong funk. Two, or three or four males can sire puppies from the same female, from the same litter. It's been proven over and over again - AKC even allows for registration of two-sired litters, with registration for each puppy pending DNA testing to verify which sired each pup. This is because the female produces multiple eggs - you are right that each EGG can't be fertilized by more than one male, but each individual egg can be fertilized by different males' sperm. There could potentially be puppies sired by several different males in one litter. And as I said - if the female is purebred and is bred to a purebred sire, and then a male from another breed - she can produce both purebred and mixed breed puppies in the same litter. The purebred puppies can be registered (with AKC) and the mixed breed puppies not. molly

I stand corrected Molly. The multiple egg issue puts me dead in the water.
