Has anyone tried Promeris for their flea control? How about Sentinel in place of Heartgard? If so what do you feel are the pros and cons of each product? I've used Frontline Plus and Heartgard for a number of years. I am looking at maybe switching for my female who has allergies. My female is allergic to flea bites (among many other things) and her weekly allergy injection/serum does not specifically combat for flea bites. It sounded like the combination of these 2 products could possibly give an edge over fleas to some degree. I'd just like to protect her as much as possible - IF that can even be done?!?! I know the cost of the Sentinel is rather expensive versus the Heartgard (almost double) so would definitely appreciate hearing from anyone who has or does use these products. Thanks!

I have had past problems with my GSD breeding bitches and Heartgard Plus(it didn't affect our males), so we switched our entire crew over to the Sentinel product upon my vet telling us it not only took care of heartworms, but most of the other worms as well as fleas/ticks. Sentinel is supposed to be a heartworm, round/hook/whipworm preventative as well as a flea/tick preventative all in one easy-to-administer liver-flavored dose. And it seems to work fine without affecting my in whelp and nursing females. It is somewhat pricey-$6 per dog per pill per month here, but considering we don't have to buy any other product to treat our adults, it seems worth it in the long run for us. I'm not sure about combining products. We've not needed to. We also use cedar chips in bedding to help naturally retard fleas as well without a serious side-effect in bed boxes & beds. It smells good, has oils beneficial for the coat, and seems to be a flea repellent to some degree. I haven't done any research nor has my vet mention anything about Promeris. Best wishes on what you decide to do.
