Hi Kool,I would contact the breeder of this pup and if he is close to you ask him if he can  help you to tape it up.This has to be done PROPERLY so you will probably need some help. Ask him if he knows of this being in the lines also.Usually they go up by this time, but i've also saw pups that go up a little later.Good luck with her.

If both ears aren't up by now you're heading into the time that you need to do something.  What has worked for me is using a product called Skin-Bond.  You can buy it at a medical supply store.  There's also a product called Uni-solve adhesive remover you'll need.

Get some pink foam rollers, remove the plastic from the roller, stick a pencil through the hole in the roller and then brush half of it with the adhesive, wait til it's sticky, then place in the ear and wrap the ear around the roller.  At this age you might need to take two rollers, adhere them on top of each other, then I cut the roller in half.  That way when you place it in the ear you get most of the ear.  You can always trim or tear off excess.

You want to make sure that it's not too top heavy and you also want to make sure that the roller is helping to brace the fold on the outside middle of the ear (it's usually the part that acts like an accordian and causes the ear to fold.  That's the area that often need the most help.

While our first two shepherds didn't need any help, the next one we got had ear issues and they didn't go up at all by six months.  We taped them and yet they never did go up.  You're still fine since one is already up.  The other just needs some help.

Leave the roller in a few weeks.  The roller may well fall out on its own or you can take it out and see if the ear stands.  If it doesn't, then keep re-gluing.  You might have to do this for a few months if the ear is really weak, but it should help strengthen it and teach it to stand.  Massaging the ear and the ear base can also help with the blood flow.

Hi,

I would not tape it yourself if you don't have any experience in doing this. My dog had one ear straight up, and the other was 3/4 up, but had a crease in it (that I didn't know about at the time), so the ear was floppy.

When he was 10 months old, I took him to the breeder (a 7 hour drive, but worth it) and she put a piece of cardboard in his ear with some skin glue. Two weeks later the cardboard fell out, ear was straight up, and has been ever since - he's almost 2 now. So, I wouldn't stress too much yet, but definitely have someone in mind that could do it in a month or so. It will be worth it! Good luck!

I keep drawings of the templates as well as the instructions for bracing ears. These are easy files to open and print. Feel free to contact me at Robert.Forbus@robertforbus.com and ask for them.

thank you all. i went through the post and found some using skin bond and some using 3M. I guess using one of these shouldn't matter. but while using 3M how should i remove or would it comes off by itself. but using skin bond i've to use Uni-solve adhesive remover, i guess, correct. if anyone verify with me would be really great and i'm planning to do this week. thanks a lot. kool
