Hello,
When it comes to a percentage ratio of lines on this dog. Would you all please tell me what you think he would be in a percentile wise? The guy paid 250.00 at 10 months, but is there any kind of value ratio you can help me with? The dog has next to no correct drives! It is very apparent that the person/breeder use the "Godinghofer" name too. He was not a Godinghofer Weg kennel dog,but the AKC allowed the variation of their name,Im shocked? Ae his lines of the top 50%,10% example?

Dog looks worth $250 lol, but no more than that! I don't like the looks of the dog. JMO

AKC could really care less what people name their dogs. It's been pointed out before that a few kennels are slipping in the names of well known European kennels to draw attention to their dogs. Unethical but allowed according to AKC.
He does come from well known German Showlines but I couldn't tell you much more than that as I prefer the working lines myself. What exactly are you asking about the dog?

Regardless of the parents/pedigree some breeding just don't produce quality pups. Some breeding produce a percent of quality pups but a percent of inferior quality pups. And if you are good/lucky you produce a litter of excellent quality pups.
The dog in the pic is not impressive. The price of the dog (to me) is nothing in comparison to the time and expense to provide care for a dog for 14 to 15 years . Better to spend a few more dollars and get a quality GSD.

IMO, your friend got what he paid for. The dog has poor, faded pigment, is very upright in the upper arm, and has a weak head. Since the sire is from Godinhofer Weg, I believe the breeder has done nothing wrong in keeping the name for the pup. It was only dishonest if he didn't explain this to the purchaser. As a matter of fact, when I purchased my pup from an American kennel, I was ASKED by the breeder to keep the kennel name when I gave her her official AKC name. This is quite standard with American kennels, though not with German.

Let me get this straight. You want to put a value (moneywise) on the dogs in the pedigree???? Say......add...$25.00 to the price for V6 Hanno in the pedigree, and $10.00 for V68 Iso. Just trying to understand your question. Ever hear of the term "nickel and diming" it? You asked for Blunt Honesty......you got it. I guess, like Mi GSD, I'm confused by your post........rather ambiguous, I'd say.
What southtexan (DR is that you?.....sure sounds like you) is correct that each breeding will produce a variety of pups...some of which (one would hope) will carry on the desirable traits in the pedigree. The seller of this pup put a value of $250 on his pup. No big expectations could possibly have been expected by the buyer..........BUT.....depends on who's evaluating and what they want. He could be the biggest bargain in the world to some. I sure hope the owner of this dog isn't the one needing to scrutinize this dog and calculate percentage ratios. One would expect the purchaser of this dog to have fully evaluated the dog for himself...whether by hands on approach or at least a video representation. Remember, I said dog......because at 10 months, he's no crap-shoot purchase puppy......he's full grown.....and one can see his drives, temperament, and structure. (As far as his looks.......pretty good-looking dog for $250------and drives? You didn't say what his are.)

LMH, I think he mentions that the dog has no drives at all. I think that if the dog is healthy and happy than he got a good deal for a great pet. You can pay $2000 for a pup with the same type pedigree and it can still be a lowdrive, not great looking dog. Pups are crapshoots!

Hi, MI GSD----I think we're on the same page....except (lol), he said "no CORRECT drives"....not "no drives". We'd have to know what he considers correct.......and what behavior the dog is exhibiting. That interpretation can differ substantially. Never-the-less, the OP's post is a doozy......one that can go in a multitude of directions. (LOL) (Just realized......My posts come up.)

Is there something wrong with this pup? To me he looks a bit sickly.
I don't know much about pedigrees & breeders (but am learning), But my free rescued GSD looks better than this little guy. :(
Looks to me he needs good food & a good grooming.

Alright----Just in case you're not nickel n'diming it-----confused (because of reference to $250)----I'd say the percentage of 'vom Godinghofer' dogs is 25 %...yes? You can only look at the sire's pedigree. 'Vom Godinghofer' consistently brought in new blood (looking back)...yes? I'd say round off to 25%. The experts can add their 2 cents........You can see this.......so.....??????
