Just a question:  Can a person take more than one qualifying dog to the Regionals or Nationals?  As a person residing in the non-contiguous 48 states, I can go to the Nationals with a high enough score from my local club trial (270 or 280, I forget).  If I have two dogs I am training who make that score, can I take both dogs to the Nationals?  Maybe I'm dreaming here, but I have two really good dogs and belong to a great supportive club. ~ Veronica

  • It's a score of 270 or above.
  • You must compete with them at a regional.
  • Then the Nationals.

You can enter with two dogs, but as Dennis has pointed, BOTH must qualify: 270 or above score AND participation in a regional championship. It can be the regional in the regional you live in (PNW) or any other USA regional. Some regions have their regionals coming up in February, others as late as September. The USA website should have the information for some of them. You can get the qualifying score AT the rehional, which would save you a trip.

The poster does not reside in the non-contiguous 48 states so a regional score is not needed.

I did two at a Regional in the past. I won't again BTW...

CS, makes a good point, but this is an issue I would contact the USCA office about..

Christopher is correct: USA members in Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam are exempt from the regional perticipation requirement. So, you would only need a 270 score at your club's trial. Still, the effect and differences of long-distance travel and the venues (usually stadium) of the USA National might be something you want to "dry run" or de-bug by taking in a regional, or even a club trial in the Lower 48. Travelling with dogs is hell, anyway (at least, it is major stress for me!!) .

I have a lot of air miles to my advantage.  I imagine that I would have to take in a couple of trials in the Lower 48 for practice.  I have have traveled with dogs some...Eric and I brought back four dogs on one flight from Dusseldorf.  Thank you for all your input.  I may be dreaming, but a gal has got to have a goal :-)  Veronica
