Somewhere in my memory I seem to remember the name of 'Bedwins', and that there was some sort of problem in this line?

I do sincerely hope that this query will not cause offence, but the way onwards and forwards to learn about the background and blood-lines of GSD's is to ask.  I could only think of this particular site, where there appears to be a good selection of indepth knowledge and experience.

Is Bedwins linked with Kingstown?  Are they both good respectable blood-lines?

I would appreciate any diplomatic comment, or if considered more appropriate even a private message rather than the Board.

Thank you to anyone for your time and constructive opinions.

Vixen

Well Vixen its a relief to know there is still someone out there thats cares enough to do their homework on bloodlines past , present and future.... OOPs ! did I say future !........ I suppose we can only live in hope on that one.

You are right in your thinking except that I think you will find that both the kennels in question WERE respected, but that was a good few years ago now but this is not the case anymore , things have changed drastically since that time or era for want of a better word.

Thanks Good Eye for your comments, which is appreciated.  A pity that the 'Pro's and Con's' of every 'breeding' dog is not listed - that would encourage more careful consideration on all parties.

(Ignorance may be viewed as "bliss" , but having your head in the sand is not much of a view and gets you no-where)!

Regards, Vixen

Surprised there is not more input on this one.  I heard the stories about Bedwins, but have never heard anything adverse about Kingstown.  I know that they imported some good dogs that were largely unappreciated, probably because Kingstown were not ringside name at the time.  Anything us guys in the Twilight Zone ought to know Good Eye?

I think that titles give you a view of sorts into some characteristics. Its not the end all by any means. Too bad there are many Shchuzhund titles that many believe are on paper only, especially among the show lines.

A true working dog tells worlds about its character depending on the tpye of work. These should be listed as well to give breeders and regular people an idea into the line.

Kaffirdog............ you are right about the good dogs & reputation that kingstown once had , but alas that was in the TWILIGHT ZONE  that you speak of . I am though rather surprised that with your obvious wealth of knowledge that you are unaware of certain indiscrepancies that have ocurred over the last decade.

Try asking someone closer to home for the answers you require, ( If you think about it ) I'm sure you do actually know someone that will spill the beans on various issues !.

Hi Good Eye

Though I know quite a lot of GSD people and I suspect even more know me, I am very much out of the gossip loop.  Last time someone in the breed blanked me, I never noticed until they started speaking to me again!

Oh dear Kaffirdog you do sound in the doldrums. All I can say is that maybe out of all the G.S.D. people you know just sit back and think of the ones you feel are more than honourable that also have high principles.................. that should narrow it down considerably !.
