I saw this ad while researching something else and clicked on it to make sure. Is this 'exrra barun-braun" a liver puppy ? I never am able to tell colors of really, really baby puppies--they all look black to me. But, this one sure does not.

That sure is a liver pup, it looks really cool!
Pretty good find!
When my pups are born, I check under their tail and look for some
lighter color, cause everyone does look pretty dark to begin with,
the solid blacks will have no color on their butt, the black & tans or black & reds
will have tan on their butts!
That liver pup looks like he'll have a saddle back......

does anyone have a pic of an adult liver?

by sueincc on 30 November 2007 - 18:11
Here is a link to a picture of the pup with the rest of the litter. You can really see the difference next to the black of the other pups. I think I see two livers maybe?

T
The top pic is an adult liver. The puppy is a blue. The puppy in the advert is not a liver, it has black on it and livers do not. I will try to get a pic of a liver pup of comparable age.

This ad seems to cause a lot of controversy!
It is being discussed on the German workingline board as well. One of the posters there provided the following link: www.bluedogs.8m.com/
The lady with the name Darlene is located somewhere in California and even has a discussion board for Blues and Livers! In addition, she invented a new colour variety named "Fawn", supposedly a diluted liver with a blue dog as parent (where is the puke smilie here?). What tops it is that she is calling to boycott puppymills on her homepage.
Well guys, this is what we get when there is no controlled breeding practices. That is why we will always look to Germany for superior dogs. This is why our shelters are full of unwanted dogs. I could go on and on. This homepage just put me in a rage. I am going for my lunchbreak now and will take a walk.

P.S. 4pack: Sorry to disappoint you but on the German board they were mentioning a couple of liver coloured dogs out of solid workinglines. It makes sense. Go and check the thread about Black GSDs.

Here is the other thread to the same topic:

I would say the puppies in the ad are definately livers, and super pictures to compare to the other littermates, too.
