Do you prefer the dark eyed GSD's or the brown Hazel eye colour? If so, is there any particular reason for this? Or does eye colour not matter one way or the other to you?

The Darker the Better in my opinion.

What does it matter? When the lights go out, there really is no difference.

Dark is preferred conformationally. I like them to be as dark as MY eyes--so dark brown as to be almost black. Now, light eyes in a gsd with a black face I think is very intimidating-looking and more so than a dark eye. It gives a mor wolf-like appearance and gives a greater sense of false security in the deterrent factor.

I have a bicolor female with yellow-gold eyes. I know, not "desireable" as much, but she sees just fine and in her black face they give her an extremely "intense" look. And, she is very intense also, so the eyes fit her very well, I am used to them now, they are a part of who she is and she wouldn't be the same dog without them, so I love her eyes. But I still prefer dark-dark eyes, except for my wolf-eyed dog whose yellow-gold eyes are perfect for her :)

She's very pretty Molly!
I like my girl Sam's eye's,they are like a rusty brown,
she is very serious
with the other dogs, they give her a wide berth!
Cause she's a bitch!
I took this pic when it was about 20 degrees or less???
outside, it was like, hurry up strike a pose, my fingers were just about
frozen.....

I believe the standard states a preference for dark eyes. Eye color is however somewhat subjective based on the surrounding hair color of the dog. Thus the "dark eyes" of a light sable or a dog w/ a predominantly light tan face will not appear as dark on a black, bicolor or a BT with rich head coloring.
