I AM INQUIRING IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANYTHING THAT CAN BE GIVEN TO MY STUD DOG TO HELP HIM WITH HIS ERECTIONS. HE IS A PROVEN IMPORT AND HAS SIRED SEVERAL LITTERS HOWEVER THIS TIME AROUND HE SEEMS TO BE NOT GETTING AN ERECTION WHEN TRYING TO MATE WITH MY FEMALES. HE IS GOING THRU ALL MOTIONS AND IS HIGHLY INTERESTED BUT ONCE HES GETS ON HER AND STARTS HIS HUMPING MOTIONS HE JUMPS OFF AND DOESNT SEEM TO GET AN ERECTION AT ALL. HE IS TIRING HIMSELF DOWN ALL DAY DOING THIS. HE IS 6 YEARS OLD AND EATS A VERY HIGH PROTEIN DIET FOR WORKING DOGS AND IS VET HEALTHY. ANY INFO WILL HELP THANKS.

Do you have a picture of the female?

He may have some reproductive issues. So a visit to the vet will be in order before anyone can make any suggestions. Prostate ok? Urinary tract ok? Back ok? etc.
You write 'vet healthy'. Does that mean the vet has already checked him (thoroughly, his repro status, not just a quick glance, look at eyes, take temp, that does not tell you much about his plumbing) and cannot find the cause for this?
Overall not enough info to comment. Please provide more info on "vet healthy". Also, how many females are in heat and how many times a day is he out there attempting breedings? Has he sired litters at your kennel before, or is this the first time you are using him as a stud?

DH WHAT I MEAN BY VET HEALTHY IS THAT HE IS SEEN VERY REGULAR FOR ALL APPOINTMENTS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN CLEAR OF ANY ISSUES HOWEVER BEING THAT THIS ISSUE WITH HIS ERECTIONS HAS JUST BEEN ADRRESSED A NEW VET VISIT IS IN PROGRESS I WAS JUST LOOKING TO SOME POSSIBLE THINGS IN CASE IT MAY BE ERECTION ISSUES DO TO AGE OR EVEN LOW SPERM COUNT ETC. HOWEVER HE STILL GETS ERECTIONS JUST SITTING IN HIS KENNEL SO WHO KNOWS. HOWEVER PROSTATE DID COME TO MIND. ALSO JUST HAD 1 FEMALE COME OUT OF HEAT3 DAYS AGO AND AFTER A WEEK OF HIM NOT ATTACHING I FINALLY GOT ONE HITCH TOWARD THE END HOWEVER WHO KNOWS IF THIS TOOK OR NOT BUT CURRENTLY I HAVE ANOTHER ONE IN HER 11TH DAY AND VERY READY HOWEVER SAME DEAL AS LAST FEMALE SHOWING ALOT OF INTEREST JUMPING UP TO MOUNT EVEN HUMPING MOTIONS BUT NO ERECTION. AND YES THIS IS MY FIRST TIME USING HIM AS STUD HOWEVER SIRED SEVERAL LITTERS IN GERMANY AND IN US AS WELL.

AI him for now and look for answers before you need him again. The vet can collect him and do a live AI in the office, it's not that expensive.

Low sperm count has no relation to erection. Can have no sperm and still perform the act just fine. From what you describe he does get errections and can tie anyways. So it sounds more like a management issue. Do not let him go at it continuously and wear himself out. Try it once a day and get it done. Don't rely on the dog doing this on his own though. Have someone hold the female in place properly while a second person, you perhaps, looks after the stud dog end. You may need to guide him in. If you want to breed, you cannot be squeamish about these things. Breeding is a hands-on experience. Male dogs basically always have a hard-on because of the bone inside their penis. It just needs to find its target. That is where you may have to assist in making sure everything goes where its supposed to and quickly so that the dog does not tie outside the female (the 'bulb' enlarges outside instead of inside, making penetration impossible). You do not want the dog to get an errection before he is in. You know that he is inside when he starts doing frequent short steps with his hind feet and really pushes towards the female. At that moment they must stay close together, othewise you run the risk of the male tying outside again. Once he stops the 'happy feet', its pretty much done, you have a tie, and you wait til they release again. The other option is to AI for now til you get more experienced in 'handling' your stud dog. Do check prostate, urinary tract and back for possible health causes, and keep an eye on these things anually, but I don't think that is the main issue.
