Info on trainer - Page 1

I met  with a guy named Wolfgang in So Cal, about working with my gsd, has anyone in the so cal area ever heard or worked with him. I'm looking for a trainer to do schutzhund titles with.

I am also interested in any feedback anybody might have on this person. He has an ad here on the board and I have contacted him about putting a title on my male.

Three things to consider would be training ability, business practice, results, and reputation.

A quick internet search will get you some results. Checking with references should get you some information on business practice, asking around at an event will give you some more information.

Personally I would start with the acid test and watch the training. How does the dog look? Do you want your dog to look like the dog on the field. Whether the dog performs the exercise correctly or not is one consideration, look at the dogs attitude for work. Does the training produce the look you want in your dog?

Good advice from Dog1 - don't neglect to check references - ask for references from Wolfgang himself - people whose dogs he has trained, and ask on sites like this one, people who have had negative experiences are not ones he will give as references.

  I have a friend in Kansas City that trained with him alot in the 90's and told me he was a great trainer. I have talked to him a couple of times and he will not sugar coat anything for you, so I really respected that. My friend said that if you wanted any info or reference to email him. If you want his email I will email it to you.
