i need to get her tested to see what kind of allergies she has.
food, airborne inhalant, maybe my rugs.
anyway what is the best and most accurate test to get.Blood or Skin
she was on tameral P.worked great!!
i put her on benadryl, nothing..she is still itching and biting.
the one thing she doesn't bite is her feet. i never had a dog with allergies,so i am going CRAZY!
i tried stopping certain foods.no chicken for 8 weeks, no meat, rice, wheat and so on.
she is eating bison kibble(timberwolf) and salmon oil (everyday)
she blew her coat, her coat is beautiful, and her skin is not dry. any idea's thanx Dawn

The only thing that worked for my girl was no dog food and going RAW. She did detox and it took most of the summer for her to stop itching. Some people haven't had the same luck though, unfortunately, or maybe didn't give it long enough chance. I do notice when my dogs blow their coat they itch some, but not the constant itch, scratch, chew. It is frustrating, I can sympathize...

Have her skin tested by a dermatologist so you know what she's allergic to and she can then be desensitized. 70% of allergies in dogs are inhalation, 30% or less due to food. The blood tests are far less accurate than the skin testing. You can't prove a food allergy with a commercial food inspite of what the dog food manufacturers claim. You need to make a homemade diet controlling everything the dog eats including treats and table scraps. It usually doesn't matter if the protein source is cooked or raw. If you don't have a vet dermatologist in your immediate area, your regular vet can do the testing as long as he or she understands which allergens are native to your ares. For example you are not going to want to skin test for palm pollen if you live in Wisconsin. If you live close to Washington, DC or Baltimore, I can give you a recommendation.
