This dog in on the database up for sale, and I happen to have a pup that I think is going to turn out just like this one, so I am asking for opinions about how ya'll feel about the coloration, markings and texture (as best as you can tell from a photo) of this dogs hair.

I am not putting this dog down at all, as I think she is beautiful, but she is a little different than the normal and since I believe my pup has a good chance of turning out just like this one, I wanted to know opinions of this type.

As a bonus, this should give the owners of this dog, a little more notice  and hopefully help them make a sale.

To avoid any hard feelings from the owners of this dog towards me or anyone else, if you have something not nice to say, please PM me and not post it here.  I don't want any problems, just honest opinions.

My old girl did the same thing. If I did not know for certain that I only had two GSD's at the time the pictures where taken that I just recently found of her as a pup, I would not have recognized her. She used to have really nice color and know is much more faded! I would post a pic of her if I knew how.

I had a female that exact color, and was told she was a black and red sable. Is that dog considered a sable?I never beleived mine was.

A black and tan dog that carries and expresses (and most likely will pass on) the fading factor.

By 8 she will have no black left.

The "red" or orange color for the tan in the GSD that has been so desirable in Germany of late has been known for a long time to be linked to the genes for either/both  fading pigmentation and lack of pigmentation.

Key cat - no this dog is not a sable. There are some GSDs that as adults can look like either a faded sable or a fade black and tan and the only way to really know what they really are is to 1. look for the agouti hairs and 2. try to find a puppy picture at about 8 weeks. Sables are grey or brown ( not liver tho) at that age and black and tans even ones destined to end up very fades are black and tan.   This not the case here however this is a distinctly faded black and tan.

Goose, when typing a response click on thd little square with the moon and mountain above.  This will bring up a new window, hit the button that says "browse server", which will bring up yet another window. Hit "browse" and you can browse thru your own picture file.  Choose from your file and hit "upload".  It may take a minute.  Now find your pic on this site server and click on it.  This will take you back to the first window and you may see your pic in the box.  In the box that says "width" type 350 and the rest will fill in for you.  Hit OK and your pic should be in the text window and you're ready to hit "submit comment".  Hope it works for you.
