If I were to breed my bitch to a Darro vom Fegelhof son, the breeding would be 5-5 on Sagus vom Busecker SchloB.  Anyone have opinions on Sagus?   I see he has Mink and some Lindenhalles way back in his pedigree.  This concerns me a bit as far as handler sharpness goes.  My goal is pups with tracking and/or SAR potential.   My bitch is not suitable for Sch. or police work.  She's a little too soft.   Any info you can give me on Sagus would be appreciated.

I read back through your older posts and you said your female is sharp and a little nervy?  I wouldn't line breed her back to anything with Mink then.  Find a stud for her that is rock solid, social and higher in prey drive rather than aggression.

MI_GSD  can you share with us some of the traits of  COMMON WORKING Bloodlines...what they give to their get (progeny) and what linebreeding on them can result... So the Mink line is not for sharp and nervy dogs.??? That's one good place to start....

Marci I wish I had that much knowledge about all the working bloodlines.  I haven't bred enough or been around long enough to do more than study my own dogs lines and what I like or don't like about them.  I did have a litter that was linebred on Mink however and they weren't what I would pick for myself when it came to nerves.  I did some research and found that was fairly typical.  I think the male I own now would of been a better pick for her.   He's free of Mink and Fero and a super stable boy.

There are people on here that can give you much more information on different bloodlines but it really comes down to trial and error and tons of reading and talking to people.  This is where working your dogs becomes important.  Even if you don't get those titles, you learn about your dog and where you'd like to improve him/her.

How's about Working line dogs that are WELL WORTH  Linebreeding from... like Gildo Korrelbach an Grief Lanthal...???

I won't argue with linebreeding on Gildo since my own male is.  This is his pedigree

I also like Half vom Ruhbachtal, especially through Nick and I'd take a bitch that is linebred on Asko Lutter anyday.  There's other but I'm low on the caffeine intake right now.

What do you mean Sagus has Mink and Lindenhalle in his pedigree?  Sagus is 5 years or so older than Mink, and the popular Lindenhalle lines are through Mink (Jago, Iko, etc.)

Let me see both pedigrees and I will tell you what I think.

I actually stated that wrong Zahnburg.  Seaecho never said anything about Sagus being related to Mink.  I just meant that I wouldn't breed her to a dog Mink dog if she were nervy.  JMHO

OK, Zahnburg.  Original poster here. The dog I was thinking of breeding to is Fear vom Haus Parker, his sire is Darro vom Fegelhof.  On his bottom side is Sagus, and on his TOP side are Mink and the Lindenhalles, a few generations further back.   So I think I wasn't clear about that in my originial post.  My bitch's maternal grandsire is Tyson and her fraternal grandsire is Alk.  If desired, you can send me your email addy so I can send her complete pedigree.
