Everyone; what is a mechanical engineer to do while he is between jobs? Archive documents and unfinished designs for a while, then propose to do something useful. Yes, I am waiting in that second telephone call that should happen soon.
There have been many past inquiries about whelping boxes, how to build them, etc.. From my homepage you can download the drawings (articles), assembly instructions, and bill of material and tool list for construction of the whelping box. It's easy-just go to http://www.robertforbus.com and click the NEWS hyperlink. You will be directed to the web page that contains all of the information. Feel free to download them as I will not place a copyright on these documents.
This whelping box is from a design I made and built many years ago and has the safety (pig) rails installed. It is quite sufficient for a GSD dam and eleven (11) babies-proof tested! This design is easy to clean-merely lift the sides off the platform and it can be quickly disassembled for easy storage.
Critiques, questions? My e-mail link is on my home page. You can of course make the sides higher if you wish.
