Has anyone any idea who the male is on this advertisement? He can't be for sale as the advertiser would have bought him!!!!  I wonder what his pedigree is like?

He looks a good male to me. What does anyone else think of him, construction-wise etc.?  Wonder if he is available for stud? Where is he, though? Any thoughts? He may be in the UK. Don't want to bother the advertiser with my questions, perhaps they will see this and answer my queries about him, you never know????!!!

I just had a look at the dog you speak of Ginnymay.

My very brief opinion of him is ........ he looks rather worried and not alert or focused ( maybe not used to being stood up ) so he is not showing himself at his best for whatever the reason ,  but anyone that  knows their stuff will see that beyond all that there is a very well put together dog here with excellent construction, good angled and correctly placed shoulder , slightly short in foreleg , very clean backline & croup , excellent hindquarter with a good width of thigh and good strong hocks , could do with a richer gold but has a good non fading black saddle.

I would really love to see this dog in a fitter more toned up condition and in a good alert stance photo........... I bet he can cover the ground in movement too . He definitly has the  X-FACTOR !.

WHAT A PITY WE CANT JUST JUDGE  DOGS BYTHEIR PHOTO'S INSTEAD OF GETTING STUCK IN ENDLESS TRAFFIC JAMS TRAVELLING TO SHOWS ........... IT WOULD MAKE LIFE A LOT EASIER WOULDN'T IT ! ( ONLY JOKING FOLKS ).

I believe this is the dog you are looking for - he's only 4 years old. Mixture of old English breeding with a smattering of German.  You know it's too bad we've let this client state thing with the SV wipe out perfectly good domestic lines in so many countries. Not healthy for the breed.

This page has a picture of him also wh/ I suspect was taken when he was younger .

I found this statement a bit disengenious "I wish to use the male on my own females from time to time" considering she's ahd 11 litters  in the last three years. See  http://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeder/7355.html

Anyway has a different email you can contact her at. Since she's looking for a new stud it may be possible Zane is available. If you do contact her just for the heck of it ask why she want's a dog with no Odin v Tannenmeise  blood - I looked at most of the litters and its no tbecause she ahs a lot of this blood - in fact I think none at all.

Thank you for liking my dog, Zane, Ginnymay.  I wouldn't normally waste my precious time getting involved answering these messages and unfortunately, with enclosed tittle -tattle. However, seeing as someone has taken upon themselves to mention about me and my kennel, taking away my right to confidentiality, here goes!! However, I don't see that person showing themselves!

Yes, Zane is indeed my dog and a very good dog he is too, compared to a lot of the males that are shown on this site!!!  I intend to use him in the future - hence stating from 'time to time' on my male required ad., not that it's anyone's business !! Before casting the first stone you should have read carefully what I had written in my ads. which have stated that I require a male to live indoors with my family and I, keeping him as as permanent companion, also for protection as well as stud, as I am now fortunate enough to live 'out in the sticks'. Zane hates living indoors and is as miserable as sin when in and can't wait to get out 'with the girls', also he hasn't been trained in protection work and at nearly 5 years old, I don't wish to go down that road with him, which after all, is my perogative!!! Obviously, I would require something totally different in my choice of male, which I haven't found as yet, I may add!!! I think I may have to produce another male such as Zane - I hope I may have more to choose from next time, though, as he was the only male in a litter of 8 - wasn't I fortunate?

Finally, regarding me not requiring too much Odin v Tannenmeise in my lines - which again is my personal choice - when in fact you stated that I don't appear to have any in my lines - or so it would seem on the surface.............??????!!!!!!!!! You don't know what's waiting in the wings........?????

by GOOD EYE on 26 November 2007 - 12:11

Not wishing to create an argument or any bad feeling VKFGSD but your statement regarding the dog Zane's bloodlines is not correct !!!!................. in fact its the opposite to what you say.........' old English lines with a splattering of German' ............. I have now looked at his pedigree and although there are English kennel prefix's on it you will find if you look only a few generations back that the majority are German lines with only a splattering of English !!!!!!!!

I know there are many incorrect pedigree's on the internet ( not just on this site ) so maybe we have looked at different pedigree's for the same dog so this may justify your mistake ................ I'm sure if you contact the actual breeder of Zane she will verify my findings to be correct.

I just want to take this opportinutity to thank you 'Good Eye', for your critique of Zane and to apologise for not mentioning you  before in my prior message, I was understandably, very 'wound up' at the time!

You were very accurate in what you said in your assumptions about him. I do realise it may not be the best photo in the World, I only used it for comparison, but he has never been used to 'standing' as he has never been shown, though I have been told by a few breeders that he should have been, also it is a free-standing pose taken with only 2 people and you were right,  he was very worried at the time, bless his heart, hence his expression!!!

WOW - Seem to have caused a some real upset, especially as the advertisement is no longer on show. Ros could always post a picture of the dog here, I suppose!

by Ros on 26 November 2007 - 15:11

I may well just do that (if I knew how to, of course!)
