Hi everyone, I have a female that destroys everthing she comes in contact with. When I walk with them in my yard she is the only one that nips at my hand, doesnt bite, she is just mouthy. I cant explain. Does anyone have any training tips? Thanks

Is there another kind?????  That's why my shirts and sweats are full of holes.   Two of ours "hold hands" while I'm on the computer.  My hand in their mouth, gently.

Seriously.....  Always have an acceptable chew toy handy.  Let her know she can chew on that but not everything in sight.  It takes time.  We use firm rubber toys like Kongs.  Probably have a couple dozen floating around the house and yard.

How old is she? My female was the same way as a pup. She would bite my pants leg, brooms, rakes, snow shovels, anything that moved. In the house it was whatever she had access to. All I did was puppy proof and replace things that I didnt want her chewing on with things that were okay to chew on. She eventually grew out of it. Everynow and again she'll go after the pant leg, but its probably just a little too low for her now.

Sounds like a nice dog.

Give her plenty of exercise.

Always keep a toy she likes in your pocket to keep her biting that and not you. I like a ball or small tug.

Never leave her unnattended in your yard or home!!!

I keep a few tug ropes, kongs and a jolly ball out in the yard for just this occassion. I get them to realise Ill only play with a toy with them outside (and not just them), so they run and get one as soon as I come out. Keeps the puppy teeth busy and off of me and my clothes. Of course, with more than one pup or a particularly mouthy pup, you can always just realise that being in your yard is highly overrated anyhow. lol.

LOL, good advice artillery!  Princess heads right for ropes and balls when I walk out the door too.  They have them all over out there.  Bree still gets physical once in a while though!
