Shelley Strohl

by Shelley Strohl on 21 November 2007 - 17:11

Just thought it was time for a new thread dedicated to the progress on the lovely new kennel my skilled and talented husband is building me any day now...  Here's a picture of him double-checking a few minor details on the plans. I think he is concerned the architects goofed in placing the elevator shaft too close to the I beam roof support above...

I'm thinking we should borrow the style of the entrance from the $30 million spa he built in the Poconos... A clever blending of rustic and contemporary incorporating natural stone excavated on-site to compliment fabricated architectural elements. What do you guys think?

Do you think chandeliers are too pretentious for a food prep area?

Maybe we can hire the same landscape design company if they aren't too busy. My wrought-iron picnic suite will look swell under those trees in a few years.

Amazing what  stupid stuff I can come up with in the process of avoiding digging drainage ditches out back, isn't it?  Fun's over for now. My pick and shovel summon.

SS- crazier every day

Shelley; yes, no, and definitely yes. But while this is all being designed, then built, there should be plenty of time to dig the drainage ditches. All the best and happy Thanksgiving!

Chandeliers too  pretentious   who are we to say !?!? But I think the glass roof concept needs a rethink  I mean it could break under all that snowfall, not just that think of all that condensation, dogs pads , glass roofs and smelly wet coats from dripping condensation, not a happy mixture. Then theres the greenhouse effect in summer (unless you got some blinds fitted). Anyway if you ask me I reckon keep the chandeliers but reconsider the glass roof.

As for the landscape garden, how much do your dogs like smelling flowers and digging up plants? The paved path , rocks, trees and bushes are a good idea though, plenty of places there for them to cock their leg etc..

Shelley, have you ever wondered that if your kennel plans had been less ambitious if your hubby would have got them built by now    What am I saying, Jed deserves the best of course . Like the idea of the tiled floor, it will be easy to keep clean and certainly looks great, though not sure the Italian style slate was actually necessary. Oh, and will your 4 x 4 fit through that archway?

Actually, George is "revising" the plan in that picture, minimal investment his most important consideration. Nothing is too good for my dogs and I in his book. Likely outcome if he got his way would be a slight upgrade to this existing structure, also constructed by him, at age 17.

If the person running the backhoe for the other stuff is bribeable maybe some alcohol will get you out of

work on the ditch.  ;)

At this point I am searching for a piece of heavy guage wire and a couple of alligator clips. I can hotwire nearly anything... a skill I learned in my misspent youth. ;)  Chances are the authorities would be suspicious about what might be under the slab when the husband turned up missing, but by the time they searched the 2000 acres of forest up back the dogs and I could be basking in the Central American tropics. They never did find the revenooers that disappeared up here in the 30's... We do run into their "orbs" once in qhile though. What's one more unsettled spirit in a crowd?

Happy TG,

SS
