Does anyoneknow of a government site that tells you which states have breed specific bans and on which breeds. I am doing a term paper on pitbulls and if it makes sense to ban the breed. Also I would like to survey you all to find out if you agree with banning pitbulls and other breeds, here are the questions.
1. How old are you?
2. Have you ever owned a dog ?
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ?
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs?
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans?
6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control?
7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control?
8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership?
If you are not comfortable disclosing your age, do not let it stop you from answering the questions please.
Thanks for the help

1. How old are you? 43
2. Have you ever owned a dog ? Um, yes, lol
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ? No
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs? No, I believe that any dog could be vicious toward humans, or other dogs! Your dog is only as vicious as you make it IMO!
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans? No, I don't
6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control? No, I use to work with a woman that breeds and raises pits. She shows them and has several grand champions and champions. She has 2 small boys also. She has NEVER had a problem with one of her dogs attacking the kids, any of her MANY farm animals or anyone that has come on to her property. Most of her dogs are big cuddly bears.
7. Do you think pitbulls are too physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control? A
8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership? Yes, I believe that you should be 18 or older to own one, and MUST take it to obedience training andddd get a CGC title on the dog to prove it's temperament. A written contract should be signed stating you would do all.

1. How old are you?
Over 35, under 45
2. Have you ever owned a dog ?
Yes
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ?
Yes
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs?
No. Education and responsible breeding and ownership will.
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans?
No. They are by nature (and I'm not talking about the BYB crap seen in ANY breed) very social to humans and love children.
6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control?
No. Again, responsible ownership and knowledge of the breed.
7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control?
No for either. Whatever happened to proper training and socialization at a young age. Same with any breed.
8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership?
No. How would such requirements be established? Who would do it and choose the "requirements" criteria? How would "requirements" be enforced?
If you are not comfortable disclosing your age, do not let it stop you from answering the questions please.

Breed specific bans don't work !!
1. 37 2. Several 3. Yes 4. Absolutely NOT 5. Absolutely NOT 6. NO 7. I think they are physically as capable as any other breed of comparable size and stature. 8. NO and here is WHY, Please tell ME who the hell is going to distinguish whether or NOT your dog is a PIT mix, or a Boxer mix, or a Bull Dog mix, or a Mastiff mix, or a Kane Korso Mix, or some other mix ....WHO WILL BE THAT DETERMINATOR ????

1. How old are you?
40
2. Have you ever owned a dog ?
yes
3. Have you ever owned a pit bull ?
yes
4. Do you think banning pit bulls will decrease the number of attacks on people by dogs?
no
5. Do you think pitbulls are inately vicious toward humans?
well I think any bull breed has a higher prey drive then the say a cocker or poodle.I believe many times a untrained bull breed is just acting on instincts. As with any breed a untrained dog is a problem waiting to happen.I owned a pit who had lived with our cats for years. Then one day I walked into my home to find a dead cat.I think the cat had knocked some chips from the top of the fridge and the dog and cat both went after the chips. The dog won.Again his drive had just kicked in.
6. Do you think a pitbull is too strong willed for the average person to control?
I think some people are just not strong enough willed to own any working breed. So that is a tuff one to just say yes or no to
7. Do you think pitbulls are to physically strong for the average a) female b) males to control?
I dont think sex has anything to do with it.I am a strong handler of dogs but not a big person .I handle horses and have many girlfriends who also have horses and they are for sure stonger then a dog
8. Do you think it would be more fair to the public to instate requirements for pitbull ownership?
I am against any breed bans or ordinances of any kind. Its is our right to own the breed of our choice. However we are also bond by law to control all dogs we own.

Thanks for the answers. What happened to the people who oppose the ownership of pitbulls?

1. 54
2. Many, including wolf hybrid.
3. No
4. No
5. No. True pit dogs do not survive aggression to humans, unless the owners an idiot.
How would you handle the animal? The power of the bite can break bones.
In recent years some breeders have produced larger more aggressive animals for so called protection. A status symbol for drug dealers. Not a true pit dog.
6. Depends entirely on how it has been bred and trained, answer is possibly yes.
7. Same as previous, sex of handler make little difference.
8. Many states are considering laws governing pet owner responcability, and legal liability. Answer, probably yes due to the nature of the breed. The same already goes for owners of wild and exotic animals. [wolves, big cats, bears.]
I know breeders, and sadly many of them use the pit. I think the breed has its limitations. I would not own one. I think dog fighting should be a felony.
