Search and Rescue Dogs - Page 1

I have a friend that is interested in S&R and I am at a loss to help her further. First of all in the US there are so many different organizations etc. How does one find out where to go to and the steps that must be taken, what qualities are sought in a good S&R dog, the best breeds, how much time it takes, the certifications etc. If there is anyone that can help, it would be appreciated.

Any breed or mix can do sar just make sure you x-ray and check hips elbows and all on any dog that shows ability to work before putting forth too much training into the dog just to have it break down physically with defects I saw it happen to sombody after about five thousand in training.
