Xanax and Captain Morgan... excellent combination. Makes the day, actually a couple of days, pass very quickly and quietly. Shelley is busy outdoors in the snow today, re-bedding dog houses with fresh bedding, raking gravel back into pens, laughing at dogs who have not seen snow before trying to fetch toys out of drifts... hilarious for them. I could do without the snow. We have maybe 3" already and expecting at least two more before the rain and sleet turn this place into a mud hole when it melts. Yippe skipped. Life in freaking PA.
NOw I'm off the run errands, out of straw and shavings, meat for Jed's raw diet, TG dinner fixin's... before they roll up the streets in this backwards little coal-cracker excuse for a town.
I wouldn't worry about me cheating on you with my husband oftern, Cap'n. He's cut off till he gets the kennel building up and habitable. He's out in the snow setting concrete forms for the slab as I write this, having clearly missed my "first snowfall" deadline. Serves him right.

How lucky you are to have snow Shelley. We have inches of rain and gales blowing today, would swap it for your snow anyday!

It's giving me a warm, fuzzy feeling to see him out in 32 degrees trying to level the stone with a rake and a shavel because the tractor won't start. Only 9" off level at one end. Boy, his good buddy excavator is reallly swell at "eye-balling" level. No wonder he works for beer and cigarettes. Ha ha ha. Can't wait to see the quality of the finished product after the rest of his yo-yo drunken friends get done "helping". As long as the grade and surface of the 6" concrete pad are right I guess we can fix any other screw ups later. I just wish it was bigger. 22 x 50 with a 7x9 overhead door at one end doesn't allow for the standard 10' kennel panels available reasonably... means having 8' panels custom made to allow for a 4' walkway down the middle so the doors will open and I can get a rolling cart through. The far end will be a kitchen/storage/whelping area, finished in with a loft overhead so it will stay clean and is easy to heat, pipes for water won't freeze, etc. I'll probably end up finishing it in myself, of course. Won't be pretty given my borderline ability to accuately cut & hang dry wall, tape, mud, etc. But I guess "functional" is better than pretty at this point in the season. Once he sees me destroying materials and filling in huge discrepancies in the dry wall with pound after pound of mud maybe he'll jump in and rescue the project... especially when I get into his stash of hardwood molding downstairs with that chop saw! Ha ha ha. Works every time!
Important thing now is to get shelter for the dogs before winter REALLY sets in. Come the rain Monday this placeis going to be a real mud hole. The freshly created bank behind the site drains right down into my temp kennels, and stays there. Shelley hates digging drainage ditches, but I guess I'll be picking up a 100 tablet bottle of Aleve this afternoon. The handwriting is on the wall for tomorrow's endeavers...
You want snow? How much shall I send you?

Send as much snow as you can Shelley. All we ever get here in the U.K is a sprinkling of horrible grey flakes that masquerade as snow! It looks like a realy nice place from your pics, lucky you.
