There are two American Shepherd Dogs listed. Lagenau and Yarmork. Why is there only the Father's side listed? If American Shepherd people want to put their dogs on this, why do a half ass job instead of doing it correctly? If it were the other way around, and German Shepherd Import line owners put their German Shepherd Pedigrees on the American Shepherd Group, (SHOW GSD), (NOT!) they would be having fits, and writing about the people with the GERMAN DOGS and what they did wrong ALL DAY LONG, and how dare they!
They hate our German Dog and yet they want to advertise and sell their dogs.
Just Venting!

Oli,
Under Latest Pedigrees someone is putting all of these dogs in, and there is no information. I think someone is playing around and using up bandwith, so that people who want to put their dogs pedigree on here will not be able to.
Oli, can you stop this?

I think you are jumping the gun here. Yes people are adding their dogs. This takes time to build the pedigree here when the information has to be entered one dog at a time then link back to add sire dam and so on. Go have a coffee and people will enter the information as time allows. Oh and I did not know that this site was for a American bred dog or a German dog. I thought it was for the German shepherd dog.

Dawn, the wording "no information" was done by Oli to save some steps when registering a dog. The idea is to register this dog, then come back later and complete the pedigree. In the recent past one would type "No Information About The Father" or "No Information About The Mother". Sometimes the word "Sire" or "Dam" was substituted, or "No Information" was used and this confounds the database as it is "trained" to ignore certain words. Then this mistake becomes the "name" of a dog or bitch and has to be found and purged. The database has entries from thousands of people so it is easy to see where this causes a problem.
But, I remember Oli did say at least once that he was a bit disappointed when so many dogs and bitches have been registered without this information and updates were never made. This is nothing new, and one would think that personal pride would cause someone to complete the pedigree information so the dogs/bitches can be linked to the others.
Imagine this-a person purchases an A.K.C.-registered puppy and completes the registration yet does not want to spend the additional monies for the five-generation pedigree. Even if they enter the sire and dam of this puppy, the dogs preceding them will not be linked even though they may be present in the database. Perhaps this is moreso a problem caused by the A.K.C. as they do not have a searchable database other than the one you can use to identify an individual dog or bitch.
Hope this provides an answer,

I do not in any way hate a German bred dog. I see American dogs that I think are not good as I see German dogs that are not good. But I love a good German Shepherd dog........... And I think you will find any one who really loves this breed will feel the same way a good one is a good one no matter where it was bred. I really want to see more German dogs in motion and stacked photos. I came here because I was invited to by a German line breeder who has outstanding dogs. Fred Lanting is a good friend of mine we share photos and chat alot. Please dont think because we have American dogs that we are blind. I stated yesterday in a post that I am doing my first American / German cross in the spring. I am so excited about that I cannot put that into words. I think this is a great site to share information and look forward to seeing alot of good dogs here.

Gerald,
If that is the case, why doesn't the GSDCA Parent Club or the Judges look ,or the breeders look at the German Shepherd Imports, or GOD FORBID, look at the German Shepherd Import in a Specialty show? ONLY to be entered in All Breed Shows? (If entered.) WHY? Where are the GERMAN dogs? NOT.. American Shepherds!
Have a GOOD DAY!

Dawn - CHILL!!
It is MUCH more difficult to find the information for American bred dogs than for German. The American's aren't as anal about record-keeping as the Germans are. Often the only info available is pedigrees posted on websites that DO NOT give anything other than the dog's name and titles. Especially if the dog was never titled, there will be NO other information given, and it's often impossible to even find the sire and dam for these dogs.
Have YOU tried entering a dog's pedigree?
For most German dogs, you put in the sire and dam, and POOF!! There's the dog's entire history, right back to Horand!
For American dogs, it's a VERY different story....
I have spent many, many hours working on this over the last 2 days, trying to fill in the gaps in my puppy's 7-generation pedigree, and I HIGHLY RESENT YOUR COMMENTS!! IT'S A HELL OF A LOT OF WORK DOING THIS! Maybe once I finally get the registration papers for my pup, I'll have access to the AKC's records, and be able to go back and fill in missing information.
One day, other owners of American shepherds who come to this site are going to be greatful for all the hard work people have done entering data, EVEN IF IT IS INCOMPLETE!!

I don't know who you are, but this was just mean and nasty and this is why alot of people don't write to these lists.
I have been into dogs since I was 12, I am now almost 50. I have had German Shepherd Dogs since 1978, and had many different lines, and have enjoyed each and everyone of them with all my heart.
Your remark to me was totally uncalled for and now that I know who you are, and what you are about I will not react to anything you say.
The comment above mine was right, as mine was to you. It takes time to make a pedigree on this database. And it is for the GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG, which if you look back you will see all OUR DOGS are orginally from what Max bred. No where on this database do I see that an American, Czech, West German, East German, Belgium, Indian Dog cannot be on the database, and maybe if we got all these dogs on the database, and on a GENETIC DATABASE we would finally find some ways to take care of things like DM, Anal Fistulas, HD, and all the other diseases that kill our beloved dogs before there time is up.
I will get off my soapbox now
Rebecca
Subject: Re: database and your remark
Sorry but it is the truth and if our dogs are too roachy, then why look at the PDB? To sell American Shepherds? NOT GERMAN SHEPHERDS!! By the way, I do not have time for PISSING GAMES!! So you will now be spam!
Hi, Hate confrontation, but wanted to say that when putting things on the database if the dogs behind a dog are not there, like American lines, it sometimes takes you awhile to "register" each and every dog on a pedigree. I am not into all the pissing contests between the lines, but I know I like the old fashioned dogs that had correct structures, hate roaches, hate circle dogs, hate crippled hock touchers, hate straight shoulders, I want a working dog without the horrible czech attitude/drive that can sometimes be there, and also anything that has a bite that has no courage. I wrote to you personally, as there are WAY to many ppl that bitch on that database, and I don't want to start anything, but I wanted to write you Thanks, and JMHO Rebecca

Hello Dawn
I think you will find more and more German bred dogs winning at specialty shows. I have even found a few kennels advertised here with German lines only. That have major wins at Specialty shows.

Gerald,
I think that some Breeders are going to German Dogs is to fix what problems that they have created by breeding too close.
I wish you all the best for healthy pups.
Why does the GSDCA hate Fred Lanting? For putting up a German Male at their National?
