I am finally going with raw diet, but just for my new show dog. Can't afford it for all the dogs at this point as its costing me about $2./lb. and the dog eats 2 lbs. a day. The stuff I'm making up at home has quick oats as the main grain component. There is very little stool produced and what there is is firm and easy to pick up, and the dog looks fantastic (under the mud he's so happy to play in, that is) I only wish I could afford to feed it to all my dogs. Sorry, can't give out the recipe, but you can buy the  quaity-contolled version, with extensive feeding trials to back up the extensive foundation research on the foods  from Common Sense dogfood, produced in Washington state. There are other raw diets produced, but this is the only one with extensive scientifically conducted feeding trials behind it, so this is what I'm feeding Jed, although after only 3 batches made in my kitchen, I am aready sick of mixing the stuff myself, even for one dog. If I am to feed it to more dogs in future I will be buying a pre-mixed formula, delivered frozen in bulk, which means I'll need more freezer storage than I have at this time.

BTW: The rest of my dogs are still on Canidae. They look alright, no serious complaints, but I know what Jed is getting is a LOT better for him and none of the rest look like he does.

Not heard of that brand you're referring to.  I feed Innova EVO (Turkey &Chicken) which is grainless and am very happy with the results.  I tried feeding raw but not only was it expensive but I had to change to kibble every time we took the dogs backpacking.  No freezers out on the wilderness trails.  Got tired of flopping their diet around, so now we feed kibble and don't see any noticeable change from raw, other than stools aren't as firm.

I feed Innove Evo as well. I really like it. I noticed better coats, more interest in eating adn smaller stools with my dogs. I havent tried the brand you mentioned, but I have read where others have used and liked it.

YES!  A new convert in Shelley - good for you for doing it, much better for the dogs!  Soon you will do as us hard corers & buy a seperate freezer for RAW - and then you can start feeding tripe too.

I feed no grains at all though.

I have been feeding some Orijen (chicken) since June. I also feed RAW. The dogs seem to really like the stuff and have been doing well on it.

Care to loan me a couple thousand for a couple of big chest freezers and a lot of meat? Ha ha ha. I'd LOVE to order a pallet of this stuff, even become a distributer on the East coast, so good do all the dogs on Common Sense look, but the shipping is not cheap, so for now, I guess I make it up in the kitchen when the husband isn't around to bitch about the expense (he's jealous) and hide it in small portion-size bags in the freezer under the berries I picked for wine last summer...

Just so long as you don't confuse the meat with the wine you'll be ok!!!!!
