Hello
I am Gerald Roach from Geran's . I noticed that my inbred litter had become a topic. So I thought I would just post a short note. When it comes to inbreeding this is not a task that I would advise a novice to do. In some cases I would not recommend a veteran breeder to do it either. But I have been breeding for many years and in much of that time have had the chance to know the dogs in my lines. I did this breeding for myself and as to date have not had any health problems and minds are sound. As many on here can see there are limited American dogs listed. I have started loading some and will do more in the future. I also look forward to meeting new friends on here.

Gerald,
Hello, I too am new here. From what I've seen anything can turn into a major topic here.
What your doing is line breeding and its done all the time in America. I dont think its done alot in Germany. But I understand it and have seen much of it. I hope you get the desired results your striving for. Dont let negitive feed back get to you, theres alot of different views on breeding here. Me included.
Just thought I'd chime in.. and welcome you to come in and debate idea's.
Brent.

Gerald,
I tried to follow your links out to your website, I didnt work right but I found it another way.
We are not far from each other. 60 miles give or take. I grew up on the far west side.
E-mail me sometime.
Brent.

Gerald, I think some people here don't understand what a labour-intensive process it is entering pedigrees, if your dog's ancestors aren't in the database already!
I've been working on my puppy's pedigree, and at one point, I had six separate windows open! And I ain't done yet! I just found a whole page of info on the mother's side of the pedigree, which will link her to her ancestors that are already in the database. To get there, I'm going to have to enter 3 generations of ancestors by hand. That's gonna take a few hours, for SURE! There must be over a hundred dogs to enter, once you take the ped back 6 generations! And make ONE mistake (forget to refresh the previous page, after doing the sire and dam's page) and the info won't show, and you've gotta do it again!
Welcome to the board! We need more American pedigrees here. The more there are, the easier it will be to link our dogs to their German forebearers!
(Waits for the uproar from the anti-American bred crowd...)

*lol* Ain't that the unfortunate truth, eh Sunsilver?
Anyhow, moving on to more important stuff, Welcome to the Database, Showman!

I was wondering if you do anything with your dogs besides conformation and if they are all OFA'd before breeding?

Hello
Thank you for everyone's warm welcome. And MIGSD don't worry you do not last as long as I have in the AKC show ring with thin skin :) Most breeders German or American are very passionate about what they breed and are not afraid to share their opinion. I for one march to my own drummer. I enjoy working my dogs in herding and mine are our family pets. In the spring I will be doing my first German / American cross and look forward to that litter. I love to watch a good dog no matter what side of the ocean it was born on. I hope to learn and share information as a member of this group.
