Now this is inbreeding unless someone entered information wrong.

MI_GSD,

Inbreeding?

I have an inbreed male...ugh.

His mother and father have the same father, they have sisters for mothers.

Time will tell whats to become of him.

I would never breed this way.

There's alot missing from that pedigree, maybe it will be completed in time.

It's all done now.

I have questions. If this pedigree is as complete as it's going to get, how can this dog's parents/grandparents be registered? Doesn't the AKC require that a dog's parents be registered before he can be? I've had several AKC purebreds of assorted breeds before but never bothered to register them because I never wanted to breed. But on the application papers don't they ask for this information?

And if the dog isn't registered how can he be shown? What's to keep me from taking a Boxer and showing it in a GSD class if there isn't a requirement that the dog prove he is full breed of that class?

This is not slamming anyone. I'm just asking questions.

There is more info available on the ancestors if you want to dig a bit:

Rohan's Glass Palace:  gsdca.org/GSDReviewed/rdogs/RohanGlassPalace.html

Kismet's Heart Throb: http://gsdca.org/GSDReviewed/kdogs/KismetHeartThrob.html

Stonehedge's Rose von Ken-Delaine: There is no pedigree on the site, as the bitch has passed on, but she was obviously much love, and I'm sure they'd be glad to provide you with information if you e-mail them.

who ever put the page together left out alot of information, like registration numbers?

Also, there aren't many AKC pedigrees on the site yet, so it is hard to trace ancestors back 7 or 8 generations, without a lot of trouble. With the German-bred dogs on the site, the software would just automatically link you to the ancestors.

Don't ASSUME just 'cuz the ancestors aren't listed that they're NOT REGISTERED! (And AKC charges a fee for a ped search, which I"d be unwilling to pay, just on principle...)

Maybe he/she doesn't have them available. The ancestors are all well-know AKC show dogs, very easy to find the names with a web search. However, when people post the American pedigrees, they usually only list titles, not registration numbers.

Thanks Sunsilver. It was more of a general question that I thought of as I looked at this pedigree.  I was under the impression that it was as complete as it was going to get so didn't bother to go into it.

Then is the answer that they can't be registered? I'm just curious.  Also, if I have a dog that is out of an AKC registered bitch but the stud is not registered, and I breed the progeny only with reg. dogs for several generations. Is there any number of generations that can pass until the progeny can be registered? The reason I ask is this: there have been times I've seen a dog's pedigree (all diff. lines but more Am. it seems) and a few generations back it say no info.  Is that more than likely just info that's not filled in or a case such as my above question?

I'm just curious about this as I've seen it several times but never seem to post the question.
