Appreciate if anyone help on this, I have 14month male GSD (Show line) he is very social and always wants to play with everyone even any strangers.
My only issue, he is not a Property protective and he can accept any stranger to enter the yard and he will play with him.
Is this something can be changed by training or is it a nature? Is this can be changed by time, is he still young? what kind of training that will help?

Thanks for your help

He's still young let him mature, it is good he is social, he's still a baby even though he may not look like one.

Would you ask your 10 year old son to guard the house with a gun?  Be careful what you wish for.

It would of kicked in by now I would think.  I've had 8 week old pups that give newcomers unto the yard a hard time.  You can get a trainer to make him more protective but you may get more than you bargain for.

Adel,

If you plan on showing this dog I would not attemp to change his demeanor at this time.

He is young and I would keep socializing him.  There are ways to teach him to be suspicious of strangers.

personally I would teach him to bark at a particular que, like a strangers car in the drive, or a knock on the door.

just dont ruin him.  you might get another dog for this purpose.

I would think he may just be young. All dogs mature differently. I had one dog start growing more protective at 8 months, another 2 years. Depends on the dog. Even if it's not naturally in his character he can be taught to bark at someone entering, but that shouldn't be done seriously until he's older anyways. So just let him mature and don't worry about it.

Adel,

Do you want the dog for show?   Or did you really want protection?

I dont think you will be able to "change" his temperament. He either has it or he doesnt.

Actually he is from a show line, he is the son of VA3 Andrjusha van Noort and grand son of VA2 Hill vom Farbenspiel, but I got him as home pet and I was expecting the normal protection behavior. and i was just worried if this will be a nature that will not change by time!

Do anyone know a recommended training site for teaching him how bark at a particular que?

I don't have in my area a qualified training center that i can trust.

Thanks

He could be trained.  the question is should he.

Adel needs to figure out what he is to be used for.

but your right about temperment

If you cant find a trainer there are some good books. Obedience first and always.

Take him into your life and make him apart of your family. like the furry son you never had.

Maybe he hasnt felt the need to protect you yet. They know the difference.

They protect what they love and consider they're own.  Maybe you are afraid of him being stolen, this does happen.

Keep looking for someone close who could help you with your training needs but beware of trainers as well.

in the meantime keep socializing him. its important for later when you try to stranger proof him.
